IE stage 2 emissions scan question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Everyone,

I couldn’t find anything on this specifically so I’m hoping someone may have an answer. I put in the IE HFC DP and went stage 2 (great btw) and currently have no cel. Before flashing to stage 2 I looked in the emissions part of the app and all were ready except “catalyst heater” which said “not equipped”. Since going stage 2 the “catalyst” also says the same thing. There are green circles that are illuminated for everything else except 1 that is still takes a few cycles from my understanding but it just is not green. My question is obviously it’s from the coding but what does “not equipped” do in terms of passing inspection being that it seems it’s different that something that isn’t ready. Thanks for any help

IE fucks with emissions. I believe they do the old, N/A flag aka the test will never run when tuned and therefore never throw a code. Now, depending on ur state, if you go for an inspection, the new systems when they plug in cross reference the factory tests/flags with what your car is displaying. If there are inconsistencies, they will know ur ECU has been tuned and then if your in MA, you have to go to a special inspection center to get ur car cleared aka not fucking fun. Ur in NY, dont know how detailed or the processes are for inspections.

End of day, stay away from IE tunes in general. Their hardware is great, their software is not. They pull back the knock protections real fucking far to get those big numbers which can be and basically is dangerous for your motor. They also don't tell you they fuck with emissions, but they 100% do on stage 1 and 2 tunes.

Read the same thing about IE tunes. Do you have a tuner you would recommend instead?

The fuel injectors on these cars go bad! No CEL to say 'Bad injector'! You realize it when the DSG doesn't shift or the engine isn't running right.

Correct fueling in these motors is critical especially under high sustained boost!

Bad fuel injector(s) can destroy these engines in seconds! Cause most people keep pushing boost...thinking it will correct itself!

All Audi A3/S3 tunes are the same...cause they are all 'tuning' the same motors and same ECUs!

Some people are mad cause they blame IE for their engine failure...with nothing but speculation as proof!

I have United Motor Sports on my 2015 S3. Love it! DSG and Haldex too! Replaced injectors twice on that motor and finally replaced the entire motor for excessive oil consumption.

    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...lacement-motor

Upon disassembly of this motor I found leaking exhaust valve guide oil seals and 1 bad injector...

Audi went to a improved piston oil control ring on later built motors.

I have APR on my 2018 S3. Its typical smooth APR tune! DSG too.

thx for the info. Is there a preferred set of fuel injectors for this car then or will it have to be OEM every time I get them replaced? What brand of injectors did you go with?

Also do you have any input on the IE tunes? I have seen a lot of good things which is why I chose them however Gberg is also all over with his experience

Their tunes are garbage, blowing B9 S4's left and right, and f with emissions, even stage 1 tunes, avoid at all costs. IE hard parts however are very very nice products.
Stage 1 more than you RS3

I have a '16 S3 that I picked up in the fall of 2018 with 38K miles on it. Currently has 105k miles. Was IE stage 2 93 for most of those miles. Switched to EQT for their E30 tune from 90k-100k. I then made the switch back to IE for their stage 3 Trueflex tune for the GT2260S. No issues or complaints. I log from time to time and have no concerns with the tuning. Car runs like a top. Couldn't be happier.

Gberg is the only one I've heard of that popped an engine while running an IE tune on the MQB platform. Not saying it hasn't happened to anyone else but I've not come across it on here or any of the facebook groups.

bumping an old thread, northwest indiana here, just got an s6 with stage 1 ECU/TCU from IE, however I did the readiness check on their app, all green circles, no CEL, plugged in my own OBD reader and no faults at all, should I still be worried about passing emissions?

edit: I still have my cats as well

I live in SE Wisconsin and do an obd emissions test. I had IE stage 2 on my b8.5 a4 with a hfc and passed without issues, I also currently am stage 2 on my b8.5 s4. In my state they will show up as not supported and don’t throw a cel.

Thanks Euro, this seems like what the majority of my friends said as well, I think it all comes down to the particular state regulations and how each area handles their emissions, I should be more than fine then :)

Like Wisconsin we do the OBD emissions test here as well...

The only section where it's not in a READY state on the IE app is the fuel system, I think I just have to drive it more (not my daily) and it's always been on a full tank normally too. The good news is my EVAP says ready so I think that's all they care about, I'm not sure what exactly northwest Indiana looks for but my buddy with a stage 1 APR tune says he passes with flying colors

In Wisconsin I’m also allowed to have 1 parameter that is “not ready” to pass
