Hi all! Unfortunately my 2008 a4 3.2 m6 bit the dust after hydroplaning into a guardrail, so now I’m stuck with a running car that has frame damage.
Saw a classified for a 2010 a4 roller with a 6 speed, and trying to figure out how intense the swap would be if I tried to drop in my current 3.2.
What I know so far:
- 3.2 engine was in conjunction with the same 6 speed that’s in the roller (just never in the US), and based on what I’ve seen it should bolt up to the transmission with no issue.
- I will need to re work the exhaust.
Questions I am still chasing down:
- are the engine mounting points different between the 2.0t and the 3.2? How difficult will that aspect be.
- once I get the engine in the car, will it be a matter of splicing a few ECU wires, or will I need to run a Frankenstein setup using the b7 ecu to run the engine and the b8 ecu to operate the body of the car?
- has anyone attempted this before? I understand it’s an odd swap, but it’s what I have on hand and I’m going to try to make it work!
Thanks!
