    Upgrade from 194mm to 207mm

Would I notice a difference between the two? I am currently running 194mm on 034 dual pulley tune and have had 0 issues. Thinking about making a change. Pulley ratio would go from 3.06 to 3.27. I only have intake and merc hx.

My vote would be: leave well enough alone.

I feel like the jump in pulley ratio might feel like the jump from stage 1 to stage 2.

What type of events is the car being used for or is it just a daily? Are you on e40?

As long as you can get a good tight belt fitted to the 207mm pulley, you will feel the difference for sure. I went from 194/63 to 200/63 and felt that bump.

I will amend my response. Yes you will notice a difference. Really depends on you end goal. I went from OEM/ 57 to 187/57. But, since 95% of my driving is on the highway, I really don't think I gained that much, except for maybe churning my s.c. at a much higher rpm. I am a rather conservative driver. In the city, between traffic light....yes a big difference ( note: I have a 6mt).

I don't do any events. I drive about 3,000-5,000 miles per year. I am also on 91. I get that I won't really feel the full benefits since I don't track or race.

Good to know! I went from 179/63 to 194/63 and there was a noticeable difference, but part of that was upgrading the tune. I've been researching and its either 1360 or 1370. Seems like the 1370 might slip a little.

95% of my driving is around town with backroads. I have a 6MT as well. I figure that the cost to buy a bigger pulley and selling my 194mm, the cost to upgrade is minimal.

On 91 octane, the last thing I’d want to intoroduce is more heat. Lol

Swank makes a great point knowing now that you're on 91. At some point, you will likely exceed the capability of that fuel and end up seeing some knock correction, which will take a bite out of the gains made by more boost. If I only had 91 in my area , I would be running water meth to add some octane to the engine. Getting a WOT log of your current setup would go a long way towards making the best decision.

Makes sense. I'm not overly aggressive while driving. I hardly every take it up to 7K rpm. I just like the low end torque and to be able to merge onto highways with good power. I haven't logged my car in years. Last one shows about -2.25 up to about 7k rpm.

Yeah, you don’t have the octane for it, if you’re already pulling timing like that. You can log it again and see what you get when it’s hot out and see. It should be fairly clean to redline in multiple gears repetitively and if it’s not, no sense in throwing more heat into the mix. I understand you’re saying you just want the low end grunt, but if it’s going to pull more timing as the RPMs climb, that doesn’t make for a safer engine. Others like to disagree, but no knock retard system is ever meant to be rode on all the time. It’s there as a safeguard, not as a norm. It may actually be slower with the higher ratio.

Makes sense. Thanks for the advice.
