Black optics door badge/emblem

Recently purchased a 2021 Rs5 sportback with black optics. Everything on the car came correct except for the small rs5 emblem on the doors which appears to be just the regular non black optics badge. Did anyone else’s car come this way? I’m wondering if maybe it was one of many supply chain issues in late 2020 that caused them to use the regular badge? I looked into replacing them with the correct badge and they are quite pricey for what they are. Just curious how many vehicles came this way

My '19 RS5 coupe came with BO and the badges were silver (Black emblems were a separate option at the time). I replaced the front and rear badges with the factory black and left the siver ones on the doors. I think it looks fine as the wheels are the silver/black "flag" wheels.

I have a '19 and all my badges are black except the fender vents as well. Thought it was odd, but never put much thought into it lol.

weird.. mine is a 19 with black carbon optics and fender vent badges are all black. No silver anywhere on the car.

According to the 2019 order guide and at least how my 2018 came, black optics darkened the trim pieces but the side emblems and rings remained silver. You could port order black rings and side emblems in addition to the BO. I think maybe 2020 is when the package changed to blacked out rings and emblems.

Someone please correct me if this is wrong.

The only way I've seen a B9.5 RS5 have silver side vents, is when the Audi rings are also silver (this can be optioned separately from the black optics package which blacks out the fr/rr bumper pieces, mirror caps, side skirt trim, and window trims). If you have black rings, perhaps the previous owner swapped those for black and left the side vents silver (similar to what many B9 owners did).

Here is another B9.5 with black optics but silver rings and silver side vents.

I just bought a ‘19 coupe and want to replace all chrome badges and rings with black. What’s my best option that’s not a cheap ripoff?

Marketing terms are just that. When it comes to what the factory puts on the car, PR codes is all that matters.

B9 RS5 appears to have three of the 4Z_ codes relevant to it:
4ZL appears to be the default, "aluminum matte window surrounds" (compared to 4ZB default for A/S models, "aluminum gloss")
4ZE is only relevant to the A/S models, and replaces only the window surrounds with black
4ZD replaces 4ZL in the instance of "high-gloss black exterior elements" (black optic), but has nothing to do with the rings and badges
4ZP replaces 4ZD specifically when stated "black Audi rings and badges"; this was only a factory option for GP1 (facelift); also part of the bronze styling package

Bumper trims are by the 5L_ code:
5L1 - matte aluminum (standard)
5L2 - high-gloss black (black optic)
5L3 - matte carbon and matte aluminum (bronze styling package?)
5L5 - gloss carbon and high-gloss black (black optic carbon)

exterior mirror housing is the 6F_ code:
6FA - painted body color
6FC - gloss aluminum
6FJ - painted black (Y9B brilliant black, or Y9T mythos black if vehicle is painted Mythos Black)
6FT - matte aluminum
6FM - matte carbon
6FQ - gloss carbon

There's also the badging removal 2Z_ code:
2Z0 - no model designation, you get the unmarked side trim and no trunk badge
2Z1 - no rear model designation, only the RS5 marked side trim
2Z7 - with rear and side model designation

Just received and installed front & rear rings and front & rear RS5 emblems. Looks great! I’d like to do the side badges as well, but $350 seems a little steep for just the side badges. Is there a better option?

Unfortunately the options are rather limited for the “RS” fender badging sets. There are two variants available, one with the “RS” inscription and one with just plain honeycomb design.
