recently purchased a 2004 3.0L a4 quattro when the MIL came on. I ran the codes with my VCDS and got the codes listed below. I've been doing a little work on it since I bought it such as replacing fluids, sensors, belts ect. to see if I could figure out what the P1996,8 codes are about. I read on another post that it could be the camshaft seals but that post only went so far. I replaced them this weekend while servicing the timing belt along with a number of other things, as you do, but nothing changed. one thing I did notice while I had the timing covers off was the difference in color between the passenger and driver side banks. the passenger side looked substantially darker and less lubricated than the driver side. other than that the car works great! the only weird noise it makes is the pcv valve, it humms most of the time but I believe the valve just needs to be replaced.

P1423 - 002 - Insufficient Flow - MIL ON

P0113 - 002 - Signal too High - Intermittent
16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
P0102 - 002 - Signal too Low - Intermittent
at the end of the day I'm curious what could be causing these codes, seems to be mostly cam related. anyone have potential causes, solutions?
