Hi,
My AC was working but started to develop a fault where AC was not always coming on, but it was ice cold when it did come on.
I am getting the above fault code, I'm using a Bluetooth module and app on the phone so only have limited details, it just references magnetic coupling N25.
I can see that compressor is failing to spin when switching on AC.
I have located the connector to the AC clutch which is a single wire. I've tested this with both AC on and off and it appears to be getting 12v when the AC switch is on.
Since it's connected to ground, I assume directly via the body of the compressor, I imagine it's unlikely to have lost a ground connection and that it's more than likely reached the end of its life (the engine has 110k miles).
Just wanted to see if there is anything obvious worth checking? If the clutch does require replacement, I wondered if it's possible to replace it without removing the compressor, though I imagine the bumper and radiator would have to come off. Not sure if that would be easier than giving it to a garage that could probably drop the compressor out the bottom, regas, replace the clutch and refit?
Any thought appreciated, thanks.
