    Sunroof leak

Hey guys, I seem to have a problem with 4-ringed cars and wet headliners. My last Audi, an Audi allroad with a pano roof, had a sunroof frame made of 4 parts mated as one with a bunch of sealant. The factory sealant broke down and was causing water to leak in through the bracket for the wind deflector since the sealant between the frame and the bracket broke down. Covered it with duck tape so I could drop the sunroof and fix it this summer, but the car was totaled in April.

Got my A6 allroad and thought I'd be done with water leaks... nope. I noticed my front passenger side headliner was wet so I threw the car on a lift, ran the VAS6620 snake up and down on the front and rear drain tubes, as well as spraying compressed air UP (from door jam/fender well as not to pop the drain tubes off the sunroof nipple by going top -> bottom) to clear the tubes. When spraying air I heard it rushing out from the top so knew they were all clear.

Unfortunately my sunroof is STILL leaking. On the B8 platform, I have heard stories of the fitting found on the drain tube that snaps it onto the nipple of the sunroof frame becoming loose due to epoxy breaking down and causing water to leak out, but haven't found any discussion about this on the C7 platform (I tried googling as well as searching this subforum). Has anyone had experience with sunroof leaks that weren't caused by a clogged drain tube and if so what was it? I haven't had time to drop my headliner to confirm if the leak is coming from the drain tube fitting so I figured I'd start a thread here.

    Thanks all

This is what happened to my B7. I pulled the hose, cleaned the nipple and hose, and then applied clear silicone. Never leaked again.

Well I tried pulling my headliner down to get a peek at the drain tube. Pulled sun visor off, overhead controls, A-pillar clip, and moved onto the grab handles and man are those clips tight. My last Audi as well as the Audi I visited at the junkyard a week or two ago I didn't have any problems. My pick was practically bending with how much force I was pulling and it scratched the plastic (not that anyone will notice).

Decided to order a drain tube for the hell of it ($46) but I will need to get that grab handle off when I replace the tube. Anyone have tips on how to get these buggers out, I've never had it fight me this much.

Angled trim tool is what I used, and used the handle as leverage.
