    2.7t timing tight fit?

It seems like I have no slack putting my continental belt on, everything is as tight as I can get and I still don’t have enough to get it over the last cam sprocket. Tensioner is not installed and I did not mess with the cam sprockets at all. Anyone else had this problem?

Not to sound like a smart ass BUT-
Are you sure you have the correct belt---078 109 119J
    Are you routing it correctly....
You need to have the cam sprockets loose(can rotate) when assembling the belt well as for the belt pre-tenson---VERY IMPORTANT

If you didn't mess with the cam sprockets then you're not doing the right thing.

    2.7t timing tight fit?

Just installed mine yesterday and it slipped over quite easily. I had the tensioner and everything installed. I like to route the belt all the way and then on the passenger’s side I just get the edge over the Bank 1 cam sprocket and it’ll slide straight back. I only used my hands.
Some guys like Justin relieve the tensioner roller and slip it over at that spot while holding the wrench to keep pressure off. JHM has a video that shows them bumping the cams a touch to help align the belt and then bumping them back into TDC position.

Any pics of what you’re working with?

I wish I had pics, had to put the body pieces back on so I can trailer it to my next apartment in a few weeks

Yeah it seems like I just don’t have enough slack, I even tried the belt I took off and even that was having the same problem.

It shouldn’t be too hard to slip the belt on by hand, I usually do the passenger cam sprocket last. You need to break the cam sprockets loose so you don’t shift the cams once you figure out how to get the belt on and apply tension to it..

LJS and I just did mine, we followed Justin’s procedure exactly. No issue.

If OP didn’t mess with the cam sprockets. He probably isn’t using the tool? And most likely his cam gears aren’t loose.

I've done my timing belt 3 times on my car and I have never loosened the cam sprockets. I used the timing tools, the belt was a little tight getting

On but that is cause I didn't loosen the sprockets (just me being lazy). 2 tines I replace the belt for failing water pump, the other was routine maintenance.

Does your bumper come off during routine maintenance?

I can’t imagine doing a tbelt and not taking the 2 minutes to loosen the cams and do it correctly.

Agreed. If you have the tools no idea why you wouldn’t.
