2016 LED DRL Woes

Hi all.

I just bought a 2016 A6 Black Edition Ultra (my second A6) and as silly as it sounds I have an issue that is making me want to sell the car already.

When the lights are set to Auto there are no DRL's running. I checked the MMI and the option to enable DRL's is on. If I switch the lights to the sidelights then the DRL will still not come on but if I disable DRL in the MMI they come on?
When the main beams are on the DRLS's come on with the main beams.

I had a look in VCDS and i cannot see anything that stands out. LED DRL's are set to enabled. Just to see i also enabled the rear lights with DRL's and they come on when set to auto but the front do not. I am very confused as to where to go next.

Thinking it was the PO that was messing around with 09 in vagcom I took the car to Audi and paid €150 to have the module reset but that did not fix it. If I do tests in VCDS i can test the LED module and it comes on at full brightness and looks great but alas I cannot get them to work as intended

I am happy to throw money at this as its putting me off enjoying the car I have been looking at people Long coding defaults in the rosstech forums but I am afraid to try one for fear of breaking something.

Off topic but my interior lights do not come on when the doors are opened but the footwell lights are always on. The car sees that the door is open so do not believe its an issue with the door.

Any assistance would be massively appreciated.

If you take an export of long coding from that module and line up with someone where things are working normally you can probably just apply the same changes, right? I have 2016 and if you need that export I don’t mind running.

Can there be a difference between US coding and "rest of world" coding? I believe Audis sold in Canada behave slightly differently than US.

I wish I could say yes. I tried everything. I posted the issue in a bunch of places ans got some really good help and long code exports. I also had the issue with the interior lights not coming on automatically and it was a massive pain.

Eventually I gave up and tried to ignore it but it annoyed me to the point of selling the car after a few months. Ended up going to a 17 5 Series. Have since sold that and I'm looking at C8 A6s now.

Oh no that makes me sad, the headlight drl's are also a make or break thing for me as they make the whole look of the car. I never saw you say, but I'm sure you tried changing the DRL ballasts right, they're only about $50? I haven't noticed if this a7's interior lights are having an issue, I will go back to the dealer today and look at it again today, hopefully the drl's are just switched off in the menu I never checked.

OK never mind that, I just got back from the dealer and the DRL was just turned off in the mmi, they work fine thank goodness.

I thought you said you had checked that in the OP.... Regardless, glad to hear you resolved your issue. The DRL do look nice.
