Considering buying a 2016 S6 which is labelled as a Manufacturer Buyback

Hello folks, I'm considering purchasing an S6 which was last registered in Washington, but now has a manufacturers buyback title from New Jersey. This car is at an independent dealer lot in Southern California. I'm trying to see if anyone knows how I can discover the reason for the buyback. The dealer lot does not know and the Carfax does not list a reason. Thanks.

Could be many reasons and mostly not good. From NJ, to WA, to CA. Wish I could give you details, but Lemon law cars are buybacks. An owner didn't like what they had and demanded a buyback. And that is not easy to do. I had a dealer buyback my 09 Acura TL. Had so many paint defects from the factory, I made them replace it. It was a pita process. This car qualified as a Lemon, but dealer did not want it labeled as Lemon cuz the value goes way down for resale. So they replaced my car before it could be legally labeled as a lemon. They then sold my old TL to someone for a pretty penny.

You can try calling Audi of America to see if they can give you any information. Only other option I can think of is contacting the servicing dealer who bought the vehicle back.

I would have no issue buying a buyback as long as it wasn’t a major issue. When we were shopping for an S3, I came across a buyback because you could not control the bass level through the MMI which apparently was just a software issue that needed updating.

If it’s a vehicle your considering to keep long term, I wouldn’t worry about the hit on value.
