Installed unitronic dog bone, now get a rattle/humming when engine revs down

Installed the unitronic dog bone with the yellow insert. Torqued the bolt to 10 nm only like the instructions.
    Car feels more solid.

There is some nvh in reverse which is normal I expected as much and in drive, but what's really really annoying is that I know have this annoying pinging, vibrating, humming noise that's I'm pretty sure is coming from the engine bay.
It happens only when the rpm starts to fall down and gets worse the higher rpms the car comes down from.

Let's say I do a pull and let off at 6k, this noise will persist all through the rpm range as it falls back down to 3k or less, but it immediately stops as I give it more throttle and raise the rpm.

Before anyone says I blew my engine up, no that is fine and had fresh oil done recently and is in good health. Took it through the canyons as well.

I'm on 034 Stage 1 e85 along with their tcu tune.

Never heard this noise until the new dog bone went in.

Need this noise gone, as I don't think any buyer, especially a dealer, would feel comfortable hearing this sound.
It makes the car feel like it's built worse than a clapped out civic.

How long have you had it installed? It takes a couple hundred miles for mounts to break-in.

Is it a noise or a vibration? If it feels like your driving over rumble strips on decel and goes away if you give it gas, thats completely normal.

Thanks for your feedback. Before going further, I suggest checking the version you have and the corresponding torque specifications. See the image below. Let me know if you have any further questions after checking!

It almost sounds like it’s normal. NVH is increased. Could a hear shield or something rattling be the cause due to the stiffer mount? I replaced all three of my mounts and it’s is very stiff on decel even well into the break in!

Was there something wrong with the earlier version? I have it and am curious.

I wouldn't expect it to completely go away. While in most instances, it'll fade over time, it won't be gone all the time. For example, my dog bone will still introduce vibration but, not always. Still, just as you mentioned, a little bit of throttle and it goes away. Just expect that it will become part of the nature of your vehicle but, it'll be less harsh as it breaks in.

John thank you for these updated instructions.

Torqued the bolt down to 75 and it is greatly greatly improved.

I had no complaints with the product it does a fantastic job eliminating drivetrain slop. The sound I was hearing just didn’t sound right.

It is now at acceptable levels and I’m happy with it :)

Would swapping out the yellow bushing for the softer green one help even more?

Glad it worked out for you! We don't recommend using the green bushings on the 5cyl. applications.
