    Oil level?

    Hello everyone,

I currently drive a stage 3 TTE777 e85 built motor TTRS. About 7k miles on the build and 16k total miles on the car. I havent done any launches or runs so i havent been pushing the car as much. Now I've been changing my oil every 5000 miles.

However, it's been about 3300 miles since my last oil change and I got a 'check oil level' light which means I might need to top off my oil. Before this I had to top off my oil again around 3500 before my last oil change.

My question is, can this be normal for a build like mine or am I burning oil too quickly and is it a sign of my engine going bad in the near future?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I add a bit of oil on a regular basis, less than a quart between oil changes.

That’s said there’s no way in hell I’d go 3k miles plus without checking it

Maybe give it a good beating and make sure the rings seat. lol
Honestly it's probably best to contact the shop that built the engine.

Stock here but I don't see noticeable oil consumption with 5k intervals.

    I go 8 - 9 k between, never lost a drop on the stick.

I go 10k in between my oil changes on stock motor but I see significant oil consumption like you do. I check my oil all the time so I add as necessary. Oil consumption seems to be a hit or miss on these engines. Checking your oil regularly would get around this, sending out your oil to a lab like blackstone oil labs for a check up and talking to your engine builder about oil consumption like suggested seems like a great start.

Yes oil consumption is a hit or miss on the RS 3 as our 2019 RS 3 has shown us, during the past
47,524 miles of which 34,259 miles have been fast country back road runs at speed. Consumption
has been repeatable with no large consumption increases showing, but several RS 3 friends have
had very large oil consumption surprises. Time to have it looked at in detail to see what is the
oil consumption problem being created by.

My mileage is at 37,043. Last oil change was 32,375. Oil level has just dropped below the full level.

I'd be slightly concerned if I were you, but I mean that literally. Only slightly concerned. 3300 miles to drop below the safe level is nothing much to be worried about. On the flip side, you just had the engine rebuilt. It is an annoyance to say the least.

Funny, my 2000 A4 avant with 352k miles doesn't burn a drop. Original bottom end too. And turbo.

first of all, I think would be good to figure out how much is this oil consumption (qty/miles), otherwise is impossible to determinate if it's excessive or not... (if I remember well, Audi states that can be considered a normal consumption up to 1 kg/1000 km...)
on mine (DNWa engine, 25.000 km, stage 2), is around 150 cc/1000 km...

Chiming in with my personal experience in case it helps anyone: When I was stage 1+ my engine consumed oil, about 1/4 of a quart every 5k miles. After going stage 2 (93) the consumption completely stopped. I think this was a function of the turbo being able to cool more easily with the downpipe and burn less oil. I'm interested to know if this theory makes sense to anyone...
