    ELM327 Connection protocol for 2012 Audi A4 (B8) 1.8T

    Hi everyone,

I picked up one of those cheap blue elm327 bluetooth obd2 diagnostic scanners for my 2012 Audi A4 1.8t. I cant get it to connect using any of the android apps i've seen recommended including Torque Pro. I've tested the unit on other cars such as a Toyota and a Daihatsu and it works fine. What is the connection protocol I should select to connect to my car, if at all possible? It does say its compatible and ive seen Youtubers connect to their Audis with no issues. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know if there's any configuration concerns with using Torque Pro with the B8. If it's an actual ELM327, it should support DoCAN protocol.

It appears maybe there's an ELM327 v1.3 and a v2.3. Another site lists B8 DoCAN as "CAN 11bit 500kb". No idea if you need to have v2.3.

You might also look over the commentary on this page: https://www.carscanner.info/choosing-obdii-adapter/ It's written from the angle of the car scanner software, but it seems the most of it is relevant to any software.

Thanks smac! That link clarified a lot of things for me regarding those adaptors. I think i'll save up and get a proper OBD2 scanner. Really appreciate your input
