    THE Tuner Battery Cover

Has anyone ordered one or I guess anything from THE Tuner? First you have to get approval to buy something and wait for a confirmation email…. Seriously? Then when I got it… five days later, they also sent an invoice tally. Mind you I’m only getting the cover which is $39 and shipping was a whopping $80! WTF?!?! I’ve ordered many things from Germany and various European countries and have never had shipping that expensive. Hell, my old exhaust came straight from china and I believe shipping was about $25. And I ordered it on Monday and got it Friday!

    Anyone know a different way?

Honestly, most folks buying stuff from THE are probably buying a lot more than a battery cover. He's probably asking $80 because it's a huge waste of his time to ship you only that.

I have bought THE Tuner battery cover and the secondary air plate kit and shipping was only $42. This was back in 2022 maybe shipping costs have gone up?

    THE Tuner Battery Cover

I have it on my car. I did order with a bunch of things, and have ordered multiple times. If I do an order on their site early enough in the morning (usually pre 7am), I get the shipping price within the hour and it’s then sent same day or next day. I’ve done 4 orders in recent months.

Yes, shipping is $80 because it’s an air shipment from Germany, using UPS, and a 2-3 day service. It goes by dimensional weight. Meaning you could likely ship 10 lbs (or more) or items for the same $80 as a singular 1 lb box. My last parcel was sent last Friday, and arrived yesterday.

I just sent a set of bumper brackets to the Netherlands. Hardly a large box or heavy. It was $68…unless I used first class mail. Cheaper yes, but not live tracking and can take a month. He will have this shipment this week. I didn’t charge for that, but in looking at costs it was the best option.

The exhaust from China likely isn’t actually being sent from China at all, but from within the US, as that’s how many of those firms operate. Sales out of China, inventory already stocked on the west coast for shipping in N and S America.

I’ve considered stocking things but as of now, no firm plans. Demand would primarily have to be shown to be there to justify the costs involved.

Meanwhile people are asking $100 for used battery covers.

What's $39 bucks shipping for a decent reproduction NLA item from overseas?

I've ordered plenty from THE, no issues, shipping is relatively quick from Austria.

It appears that THE is reproducing a lot of B5 NLA items, thankfully.

Yeah they have quality products. Been ordering from them since maybe 2019 or 2018. They don't have good shipping options nor a website made for handling thousands of orders a day. So if you order something I'd highly suggest piling in everything else you want at once to make the shipping worthwhile. Been pretty impressed by their other reproduction items I have bought.

You can try 2.7t Motorsports and get a shipping quote. Sometimes his prices are a little lower on the THE items, with similar shipping and he'll often send it like 2 day air from Europe.
