    EEPROM Swap Radio Module 56

Hello guys, so I have a 2010 Q5. A few months ago my radio unit died (I believe my MMI was not turning on). I read about the bypass and did light research and for most, it was the radio unit. Since this was easier to get to, I tested it out first and MMI turned on once I bypassed it. I went to the recycle yard and picked up another radio unit with part number 4F0035082A. The guy on Youtube plugged his in and it worked...he never mentioned anything about CP or going to the dealer. I plug mine in and everything works; only I get that enjoyable CP cutoff like a CD scratching. I initially went to the dealer to get CP removed. The service manager knew exactly what I needed and quoted me $90 which I was already expecting $100 to $150. I agreed to have them work on it. The car went to the back and the tech advised the service guy that it will cost $300 because it takes an hour and 30 minutes to do. I tell them I will take the car back and left.

So after doing more light research there were a couple of options that came up. Pulling the EEPROM from the PCB and reading my original CP info, then writing it onto the new one which also requires pulling it off the PCB. Another option I saw come up was just straight swapping the EEPROM from one unit to the other. I opted for just swapping the EEPROM. So I swapped EEPROM from my old unit to my new unit. Plugged it in and cleared the codes with VCDS. Only problem I saw was that the module identifies as some alien language. Normally you would see the part number. On this swapped unit it doesn't (examples below). Good thing is that it removed half of CP though. So I run the RSNAV and when listening to music through "External" source sound works fine. When trying to listen to the radio, I get the CP remix.

Seeing the readings of the differences in part numbers below (bold and underlined), did I fry my old EEPROM or something? Is there a step when swapping EEPROMs that I do not know about? Also looking at the logs when the unit is working, the speakers show something is wrong. Not sure how to fix this since I never touched the speakers and there were no faults prior to me swapping modules. Is straight swapping EEPROMs a myth? I can see the need to read CP from the old EEPROM and just rewriting the CP on the new EEPROM, keeps everything else in tact. So the straight swap EEPROM is not an actual working way?

Sorry if this is not the correct section to put it in and sorry for the novel.
