    RS4 widebody install

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I purchased a widebody kit from Mr.agayeff some years back, I believe it was one of his first rs4 dismantles cuz he didnt' leave much metal for inner rear quarters. I'm in Wisconsin, having a hard time finding a body shop that I can trust but also one that doesn't have a 2 year waiting list. Anyone know of body shops in the midwest that are capable of custom work that do good work, perhaps anyone that already had their RS4 panels put on, thanks

Where about in Wisconsin? I'm originally from the Fox Cities (Appleton) area but now I live just south of Chicago. I may know of a good shop around your area.

With a project this nuanced I would trailer it to a good trusted shop, that’s knows old Audis well. Personally, distance wouldn’t be a factor for me, the shops capacity to execute on the project would be the priority.

I recommend stripping the interior yourself. The interior plastics on these cars are getting more expensive by the day. I wouldn’t chance it with the apprentice/rookie who would likely be responsible for stripping the car.

Good luck on your quest for a good shop to do the job, it will be worth it when it’s done!

inside is already gutted and ready for metal work. I don't necessary care if they have any audi experience, just experience and expertise in metal fabrication

Contact qwerks in union grove Wisconsin. Quintin is the owner. He’s done a few wide body skylines. Tell him Jon with the Imola s4 recommended you.

Heh, Id start with something less.. expensive and exclusive :D

Still it makes me sad that RS4 are being chopped up for parts, I can understand crashed ones or something but I cannot think of a good reason to chop up a working or even not working(there is really never a problem you cannot fix) and legal rs4 like somebody in the UK does.
Like hell there were only 6000 made of them apparently.

Well, thats far more than S4's that ever made it to the US. So that endeavor has made for some very, very nicely done cars here :)

Is this for a sedan or avant?

If avant, I'd really just find any decent body shop you trust for paint that can do minor fabrication. In my experience it was more classic restoration shops that still do this the most, at least around Denver. Just the extension of the rear wheel tubs an inch or two is all that requires fabrication and they're up inside the wheel wells, so don't need to look pretty.

If sedan, the rear bumper plastic welding is the big project and you need a shop/person who knows what they're getting into there.

you just stitch two s4 bumpers together, the mesh reinforcement needs to be epoxied together as well. the metalwork isn't rocket science either. Anyone with bodywork experience is fine, custom old car work better. you just need someone willing to sink the time in to get it right, there's a lot of little things that'll have them scratching their head extending mounting points, card/shell gap rear door, scuff plates on rockers, and gas fillers all cause the bodywork is wider that need to get sorted, none of it hard. just give them an idea where they cut, they'll clamp it, weld it, sort out a couple nick nacks, then it's just paint. I had an older methhead do it initially, held up fine but some blistering paint at the seams eventually. had it for almost 20 years now, repainted a few years ago due to a truck hitting my trunk. Prices will vary wildly and it doesn't guarantee anything, had expensive audi specialist dealer-recommended shop do some real shit work in the past, and had a no-namer do some great work for real cheap.

I'd recommend sorting the fender rolling and fender liners (rs4 recommended) before you paint as well.

If you do it right (change the inner quarter panel also) it is not very easy task. Lot's of thinking, measuring, planning and so on. I made a video of the removal and "install".

that is the first video of in depth install I've seen, finally. I have to ask what you did with the inners, it looked like there wasn't one when installing the outer skin

only pic i still have. note the cut at the top was for replacing the whole panel and you won't need to. The cut goes horizontal straight through the door jam, and is mated there instead of cutting up like in the video. Think he just welded in a 2" strip to mate the inner to outer iirc.

fyi was like 3k + 1k cf hood + 1k cf trunk + like a 20k insurance claim (some dude richocheted into it on the shoulder when i was trying to help a spun mustang who blew himself up). but 7-25k would be my guesstimate for most quotes, without parts.

He was lucky and got it all as one piece. You can see the inners where he is working on the new black panel on the ground and it's all still spot welded together. Very few people get the rs4 wheel tubs with their rear quarter panels. My kit did not have those, so a small section needed to be fabricated to fill the gap between s4 inners and rs4 outers. Blue pic below is with that fabricated section installed and painted over. Other pics you see the gap prior to that.20211103_144901.jpg20211103_144927.jpg20221228_210821.jpg

Thanks. I thought that it would be interesting to see the process. However, didn't show how I drilled/disconnected the inner tub from the car, but it is about the same as seen with the RS4 part. Some spot welds are hard to reach and can't be drilled.

I bought the parts complete with everything, I got lucky and I found a complete car where I got those parts from. This is the cleanest way to do it, no welding seams in the inner wheel tub.

Op your inbox is full so I can’t reply but I’ll just post here

He repainted the front end of my Imola s4, he had it for over a week because he didn’t like how any of the paints he got matched up, he ended up having his paint guy drive down from Madison and they actually mixed up a special Imola to match my car perfectly. Other than that I’ve had a few odds and ends done with him. If you google images and search “skyline wolf of all streets”. You will see a white skyline with the Wisconsin plate “vaded” that belongs to Bobby dawley and quintin did all the bodywork wide body and all.
