Drive Select - * Asterisk Button?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone figured a way to program this button to drive select on a 2020+?

There are literally only two options which is the radio (default) or the garage opener. This is silly.

So holding down that button doesn’t give you and option to customize it like the 2018 B9?

I did not but I just went ahead and tried. Holding it down just takes me to the same MMI menu option that the guide said to use.

It only has two options - change media or garage door opener. Are you saying the 2018 lets you program more things? I may call the dealership to ask.

Yeah my 2018 and 2019 S4's both allow for other things like drive mode select. That would be unfortunate if you can't and have to reach for that button every time. I switch drive modes maybe a 6-10 times a day

Was just thinking the same thing. Is there a good place to verify that?

Called the dealership and they seem unsure. Do you have a P+ or Prestige trim on your S4's?

This is the strangest thing and they told me I have the updated software too.

I’m in the same boat. I switch through modes often. Helps with sound control, im catless with full exhaust and it can get a lil rowdy in the cabin at certain rpm’s. Opens and closes the secondary valve.

2018-2019 is still a B9 with older MMI.
    B9.5 infotainment is completely deferent

More correctly B9.0 has MIB2. B9.5 (MY20+) has MIB3. Neither are "MMI", such as MMI 2G (MY08/MY09 B8) and MMI 3G (MY10+ B8), technically. But whether any change is specific to the MIB change or just simply a change they made at facelift, who can know.

That they neutered the function in B9.5, wouldn't surprise me one bit. You'd want to review the adaptations with "joker" / "jocker" in the label for the J527 (16-steering column electronics) and J794 (5F-information electronics), maybe compare the settings between a B9.0 and B9.5.

As I understand it, the only other option was drive select mode cycle. All in all, some really lazy work by Audi.

Lol comfort for highway, individual (dynamic steering/valves open, comfort engine/trans) for normal driving, dynamic for mischief
Second nature I don't even consciously change modes anymore, just muscle association for what type of road im on lol
Gotta have quick fingers to close the valves when the popo peeks their heads...

Just remembered that I lost the little tag with number on it that came with the car. That is used to associate the car with the app or something.

I didn't want to pay for a new one from the dealership. I wonder if that is why I have zero programming options??

No, the online registration has nothing to do with it. I’ll ask on the B9 S4 discord for ya.

Do you have your owners manual? Should be underneath the passenger seat tucked away. Try taking a look there, maybe they updated the manual for the 9.5 infotainment system.

Yes I did check the manual. It just tells me how to get to the menu to program it but does not list what options should be there.

Depended on trim level of the car. If it has alternate parameters you would need obd11 or similar to unlock.

Same. Granted I barely drive mine, actually haven’t even taken it off my property since January 21, but I don’t think I’ve changed it 6 or 7 times total lol. I just don’t see the point when individual exists and I can do exhaust via auto mode based on how I decide to drive.

The tag with the code is for the MyAudi app.
Audi removed the need for the code to register the vehicle in the app.
I had it setup at my local dealer. Took them a day but they had it all done and ready to go.
