Hey Guys,
Got a really odd fault that I can't find much information for. The car runs and drives fine but after clearing the fault, within 30-40 miles the CEL pops on with these two codes in my 2007 A6 3.2L FSI. No change in the running behavior of the car.
Trouble codes:
P2279 - Intake Air System Leak Open circuit/short circuit to ground
static
Priority: 2
Frequency counter: 5
Driving cycle: 40
Mileage: 421314 km
Date: 2023-06-12 08:02:40
P0068 - MAP/MAF - Throttle Position Correlation Short circuit to ground
static
Priority: 5
Frequency counter: 5
Driving cycle: 40
Mileage: 421314 km
Date: 2023-06-12 08:02:40
I just recently replaced my timing chain tensioners, so that is the only thing that might be related somehow, and i had a lot of stuff apart, but looking over all the reassembly work i can't find any loose tubes or fittings or unplugged devices. What does P2279 tie to hardware wise? It is talking about a open/short circuit for some sensor obviously, and the P0068 seems to go with it. I have already replaced my throttle body and harness a couple of years ago so i was hoping that was beyond me now.
The only other thing that may correlate is that after i did the timing chain tensioners, randomly on startup i will get a puff of oil smoke from the exhaust, and only for a few seconds and not every startup. I have had it happen on hot and cold starts, maybe 20% of the time. No smoke at any other time either from stop lights or from downhill engine decel sections.
