Tips for easy alignment of QuickJack Blocks?

Have a set of quickjacks, makes nearly every job easier ONCE the vehicle is up.

Anyone have any tips on aligning the pinchweld blocks? Seems it takes a fair bit of fiddling to get all the blocks in *just* the right place.

Is there a better way to do this? How do the Audi service techs manage to get it right the first time with a four post?

I don’t understand why manufacturers don’t just put a big flat spot on each corner that’s load bearing…. The bmw Jack pads are just as silly imo…

    Thanks!

The shops don't bother. They just smash the pinch welds with the large flat pads on the 2-post lifts. They most certainly do not try to slip the pinch weld into any kind of protective groove.

I cut the opening a bit wider so the blocks don't grip onto the pinch weld; rubs the coating material off. Probably cut out an extra 1/8" on one side of the channel; then put the side you didn't cut to the inside.

But after a while, you just kind of know where the blocks need to be in general. Then I lift them up to the pinch welds, back it off a fraction, and work them into proper place and lift away. Yeah, it's tedious, but it is what it is.

I actually use the grippyness of the blocks to put them where they need to be, then raise the QJ up to meet them.
