    2019 RS5 Transmission Issues

Hello all - encountered an issue recently and find the dealer response/justification completely left field.* Hoping for feedback.
    2019 RS5 - 19,XXX miles
Drive Mode: Individual (all settings sent for dynamic except suspension (comfort)) - this is typically what I drive in

Leaving the driveway, I accelerated in my normal fashion (semi spirited) and the car seemed to get stuck in gear.* I pressed the pedal down further and the RPMs increased higher than usual however I was not increasing in speed.* Letting off the gas, the gears caught up to where they should be after putting it into manual.* Switching back to auto, I accelerated again and the same thing happened.* Shutting the car off and restarting did not resolve the issue.* I went through this cycle a couple more times and eventually it went back to normal as I got onto the highway.* Note - when in manual mode, this did not occur as I was shifting.* I don't remember if I tried switching drive modes.

The dealer has stated this is normal as the car has "learned" my driving habits.* He used being on a track and coming into a turn as an example, as in the car was waiting for me to accelerate so it stayed in the lower gear. No codes were thrown and as such, the dealer said there is nothing further they can do at this point unless Audi USA gives them permission (which apparently I have to call to make happen).

Do any of these actions by the car seem normal?* Is the reasoning provided by the dealer reasonable?* Assuming no to both, any ideas as to what the issue may be?* Thanks in advance!

Sounds like typical behavior in Dynamic mode(since you have engine/transmission set to dynamic). It will keep the RPM's higher in the range at all times and hold gears longer, even only at partial throttle.. at least that's how it behaves for me.

This was definitely not normal behavior; even after letting off the gas and accelerating again (as in nearly hitting the floor boards), it stayed in the same gear and did not increase in speed. Only the RPMs went up. This is the first time this has happened since I purchased the car new.

Yea, if the speed did not change that may be a problem. As far as RPM's staying high and it holding gears, that part seems normal.

That was my feeling as well. If I was increasing in speed, nothing would be out of the ordinary, however this was not the case. Appreciate the feedback!

I have my '19 RS5 in dynamic all the time. That doesnt sound right to me. Plus you know how your car behaves normally. If I put the car in sport mode, it holds gears to a much higher rpm but with plenty of power.

If this is accurate, I don't know how it's mechanically possible unless something inside the transmission is misbehaving, such as a torque converter or clutch problem. Double check and make sure this is what actually happens.

My 2019 RS5 has about 55K miles and I have not experienced anything like this. Although, as others have said, it does hold gears longer in Sport mode, but the road speed should still increase with engine speed regardless of gear selection. If that is not happening then it sounds like a mechanical problem.

You could illustrate this to the dealer by taking a video of the dash - show the engine rpms increasing while the road speed does not.

Taking a video next time is definitely the plan. It hasn't happened since that day; certainly not a scenario where it's holding the gear AND accelerating. Something was definitely off but without a code, dealer won't do anything :(
