Not sure if I should go with Bilstein b14, or B16's. Anyone running either and can comment? Thanks!

Hated them on my B6 S4. Bouncy and I tried every setting over and over. Could never get it to not bounce. No experience with them on an RS4

    B14 or 16's?

I was also considering the H&R street coils. Tryhing to avoid KW and ohlins and stay under 2k$

Could do a set of Scale coils with the upgraded and still be under 2k

After a lot of trial and error with settings I was able to make the B16 ride pretty good. Key was not to make the rear too stiff. When I’ve seen someone share B14 specs I recall the rear was not very stiff so maybe they are just correct out of the box?

Yeah that sounds good, leaning hard on PSS9's myself rn. Could you share the dampening/set settings with me Rilla? Thanks in advance homie.

Yeah, tend to agree. KW3 are probably the best performing fully adjustable shocks made for the RS for the money. Sure, the Ohlins are better but you’re going to spend more and in Boston the KW will hold up much better in the winter.

I like the ease of the PSS9's adjustability and the 1500$ price point. KW is a pain to dial in. Because the alum tube you think they will hold up better? The stasis MS I have right now is shot, kind of a shame.

I need coilovers, that's why I asked. Just picking your brain on what your decisional pros and cons are. Up here, my shop does a lot of KW by the sounds of it.

I had PSS9s - the b14s. I did not do any of the adjusting myself on the suspension but here were my takeaways after about 2 years:

The b14s are only one way adjustable, so the higher they are, the worse the body control is. When the car was kinda slammed they performed great. As soon as I raised it, it got more bouncey. You get what you pay for.

If you have motorsports, just have them rebuilt. If the bodies are not looking their best, have them hydro cleaned or soda blasted. You can send them directly to Ohlin and they will make them like new again for about $1,200.

    Whatever you do, no H&R's!

^ I inherited corroded Stasis MS, with stripped and rusted bodies. Lucky me, the PPI was dogshit. Okay, no H&Rs

Oh shit, that sucks. I love my Stasis but I agree, they're pretty fragile and don't take the elements very well.

Runner, Ed is right, those can probably be rebuilt for less than you think. (Even though he's a spoiled rotten West Coast guy and doesn't understand the plight of the snow bound Quattro driver!) I just had mine totally gone through by RE Suspension. I had a scored shaft that was tearing seals that the last rebuild didn't discover. They're on the East coast so shipping is fast (NC) and they're awesome to work with. They'll dyno them before and after and send you the dyno for your folder. They will replace whatever component needs replacing and you can add on swivel banjo's, etc. (The swivels are a game changer for routing the canisters up under the wiper tray) Even if you get them rebuilt to sell to another member, at least you'll get something for them. They do corrode though. I regularly bathe mine and before every winter give them a coat of T-9 and wrap them in neoprene shock covers. Salt will absolutely kill them.

Yeah, I think they are truly beyond saving, the threads are going on the body itself.

    1) The pss9 are b16
    2) For pss9 compression and rebound are controlled with one adjustment knob. So not a traditional one way adjustable damper like a kw v2 would be with rebound only(I know we don’t get the v2 option for our platform)
    3) Raising it should only help ride characteristics as you would engage bump stops less
    4) it sounds like you never adjusted the damping settings. There are bad settings in my experimenting. The front needs at least a few clicks from full soft to avoid feeling floaty. On the rear, I found any more than 1 click from full soft will not allow enough compression on highway expansion joints and feel bouncy.

    Ha!

On another note, do you think Stasis would install quick disconnects to the canister lines? That's what I'd like to have done on my next, I mean first rebuild.

The bodies are about $120ish to replace last time I heard someone do it. Obviously the rears can have damaged threads on our cars if they can be cleaned up and refinished aesthetically to your satisfaction. They will rebuild the entire shock and whatever seals, valves, o-rings etc need to be replaced. Just a thought.

I just want something fresh, but I appreciate the input. I doubt they've been rebuilt in any fashion since new.

I'm hearing that the guys over on Facebook are having good results with the stock springs and Koni shocks. Ride quality is supposed to be better than coilovers. However ride height would be static. One could source a set of Euro springs and pair those with a set of nice shocks for a nice compliant ride, that sits a little lower and still gets the business done.

I have the PSS9s. Love them.

    This is what I'm running:
2 or 3 clicks from full soft up front and full soft in the rear.
