    2013 rs5 transmission replacement quote

so a few weeks ago my transmission was not working so I took it in and Audi did a transmission update and clutch pressure adaptation. it didn't fix it so we then replaced the mech unit. fast forward to Monday when I get back from vacation and they stated that did not fix it and it made it worse. the clutch how says it overheats with the slightest pedal input and it slips in every even gear. they said it needs a new transmission. im looking at a bill of 27k after tax with about 19k being the parts. is it just me or is this super high for a new transmission. I luckily have an extended warranty so I am paying only a few grand but still super high in price. if anyone has ha theirs replaced in the last year or got quoted on that and would care to share how much feel free to. also I am putting in Kline headers and some jhm/ clutch masters parts since the engine is down. I am at 82k miles so if there's anything else I should look at please let me know
    -Jon

side note. I am not bashing these guys (reason I didn't put a name) bc they have been super helpful it's just audi prices. also they had the car plugged into to the tac in Germany for each step to make sure we didn't miss anything.

They are a Audi dealer in Omaha, NE. Some of the best dealer prices I've found.

I actually reached out to them on that transmission. He replied that there’s no electronics with the unit. I’m guessing there’s no mechatronics included. However, they did respond asking what the problems were and offered repair services.

Having removed and installed two RS5 Engine/Transmission as a package I've got to say that just removing and installing the transmission alone isn't too difficult. The engine cradle needs to be lowered a little to have better access at the Bellhousing bolts, a little lower on the rear of the cradle than the front and you get a good angle for removal. Pretty simple really. I could do just the tranny in a day, out and in. The engine is the one that takes all of the time with Hoses, electrical connections, exhaust stuff, etc....

so I spoke to another dealership and the service manager right away was like I will match the lowest you can find for a audi dealership. ended up getting a quote for 9.5k and total at 11.2k. they are 300 an hour in labor but I got them to drop to the other places price of 230 an hour. total is 17k vs 27k after tax. warranty should cover 15k and the guys over at the new dealership said they can look around to see if they can get a lower price on any parts. overall happy I get my car back. still waiting on the first place to try to match in price but they said almost a month vs max 3 weeks so I need to consider that. they are installing the Kline inconel headers, jam flywheel, jhm pulley, and cluchmasters flex plate along with o34 motor and trans mounts. still trying to see about tuning as I will lose the warranty if I do. I will run another thread with some photos and vids they said they will take them for me. thanks for all the help.

Wish you were closer I'd do it for $500 or less. He's in WA state but this guy has a 2015 PXL coded transmission, don't know what the price is, They're a bunch of Russians but they have a big Ebay store and I've done quite a bit of business in the past rebuilding an S5. 425-231-9511 It was a Copart car and I bid on it too and he out bid me. I think he sold the engine but his last Craigslist ad posted on 5/17 said he still had the transmission. A PXL will replace your original NSD transmission no problem. It will have the updated Mechatronics electrics board. You will have to trailer the car to the dealer or independent with PIWIS as the transmission needs to be coded to your VIN, its an anti-theft thing and can only be done with PIWIS. I put a PXL in my '13 RS5, only took the dealer mechanic about 15min to code it. Left the car on the trailer and he came out with a Panasonic Touchbook and was able to do it off their WiFi.

Oh really. Have you or anyone bought a transmission from these guys. I like the price and that it’s upgraded. Plus my warranty will only replace it with a used one or give me 5k to source my own. I don’t mind paying 1200 more for a built one vs 9500 I got Audi down to.

I only know of RS6 guys that have used them (not a DSG), just saw the ad. I might lean more to the used 2015 transmission.

What codes are you getting? If it is just slipping there is a good chance that you just have broken clutch pack piston teeth not allowing even pressure on the clutch discs.

Hopefully you aren't too far along into this already as this might save you a large chunk of change if it is the issue.

If for some reason you do need a replacement transmission we have the ability to pair good used ones to your vehicle and our labor rate is much cheaper at $165. Might be worth giving our service department a shout and getting a quote. We work with aftermarket insurances companies for repairs.

Unfortunately Jake I am in Florida so it would be hard to ship the car. I got Audi to let my car sit for the 2-3 weeks it takes for the trans to be shipped and worked on. my warranty was ok with them doing the trans. I will let y'all know the process. also Jake im going catless, yalls tune gets rid of the cel correct?

oh and to reply to you I was getting no codes at first just stupid hard shifting into Third and it sounding like it was redlining ar 6k in third. I took it in we did a mech swap and no help. now I get clutch pack to hot codes. its just cheaper to get it replaced and not rebuilt as the warranty will pay for the new part not the labor for a rebuilding.

I've got the JHM Stg2 Catless tune and there is no CEL. I also have my SAI system removed and there are no codes for that either.
