Query regarding rear brake upgrade options, as I need to replace them.

    Hi All,

    hope everyone is doing well.

My rotors/discs are warped, its been on the back-burner .... they shudder and its now getting worse. It happens when I brake and I believe its the rear due to no shaking on the steering.
Time to act so I may as well upgrade the lot, given that I've overcapitalised on the car with the full forged engine rebuild already.

    I have done some reading on Audizine regarding B8.5 A4/S4 upgrades for brakes and so far this is my understanding;

    - S4 B8/B8.5 - Front disc 330mm & rear 310mm.

    - A4 B8/B8.5 2.0T - Front disc 320mm & rear 300mm.

Question: so confirming that the extra 10mm size difference in rotors will not be compatible with each other?, e.g 330mm + 310mm will not work for the A4 unless calliper change?

    - The best bang for buck upgrade for FRONT is Audi Q5/Porsche Macan as a BBK, they bolt straight up to A4/s4 without the need of caliper carriers.

Question: this will only allow for 330mm discs, and not any other sizes such as 345mm?

However, i don't see many (if any) options for the rear brake caliper + disc upgrades out there, what are the options to go larger for the rear? as I'm interested in the 2-peice for the upgrade this time.

    Thanks again, much appreciated.

The Macan 4 piston Brembo only comes in 345mm flavor, the Q5 comes in 345mm and 320.

The S4/S5 rear caliper/carrier use 330x22mm vented rotors vs 300x12mm solid, for this reason you cannot use the stock rear caliper with an S carrier as has often been done in the front.

Apologies it's been quite a while.

Having a company vehicle i've barely driven the vehicle.

But ill now need to do some servicing to it and revisiting this, apologies in advance for the questions. (I'm a bit rusty in this scene)

The confusing thing is that he mainly talks about S4.

Could you specify which year model Macan brakes bolt on or part number ?

Upon searching, I can see that the Macan has a two options:

1.) 4 Pot caliper (i think this is the base model)
is this a 345mm Front rotor and it can bolt straight onto the B8.5 A4?:

2.) 6 pot caliper ( I think this is the GTS model)
would this also be a 345mm front rotor? and can it also bolt straight onto B8.5 A4?:

Im weighing up options at this stage, theres seems an abundance of wrecker calipers, but the downside with that is that ill have to find someone to both re-powder coat and rebuild them.

there are numerous threads here and elsewhere discussing it with part #s. The 4-pot Brembo caliper from the Macan/Q5 3.0T/TDI is the one which is a bolt-on for the B8 and uses a 345mm S4 rotor. The 6-pot from the GTS does not work without modification
