B9 s5 suspension advice - abt has and bilstein b16

    So I have a 2019 s5 sportback, had a 2018 a4 previously

I’m debating what to do for suspension. For the a4 I went from stock (non sport) suspension to b16 coilovers. I liked it,
Usually ran it at mid settings for daily driving. Long trips with the fam I would put it on softest setting. I had to drop the car almost 2 inches to close the gap to make it look good.

The s5 is a different story. It’s already pretty low, I’ll lower maybe 3/4 an inch. I got the abt has kit thinking I would just do that. But I’m curious on what the stock struts are like compared to the b16s. I’m sure they are stiffer then stock a4, but I honestly don’t recall. The other issue is I have adaptive suspension and I’m not seeing any cheap solutions to eliminate the dash light, unless I’m missing something ?

Car is mostly in the garage since I work from home and take my daughter to preschool. No tracks around here so I’m sure the b16s are overkill, just figured if I had them already …

Any one have experience with both or either and can give some feedback ? Anyone with abt has not happy ?

I’m Definitely interested in the Damptronic B16 offering since I have adaptive suspension and about 60k on the clock. Has anyone here tried that option?

A few people in the S4 forum have.

As an aside, this is why I’d like to the forums based on platforms as opposed to models. Have a B9 forum and make it a lot easier for people to find answers instead of having to search multiple forums. However, I understand why they do it; increased number of page views and multiple opportunities to sell ad space.

Well, I bought the ABT HAS springs and will have them installed on Wednesday. From what I have read, people are generally happy with the ABT setup using the stock dampers. I haven't read of any issues with that setup. Like you mentioned above, the drop is not going to be huge (less than an inch) which is what I aiming for here myself. From past experience, seems the travel and the generally quality of the damper are going to be the limiting factors. The only other thing I have read is that if you drop your car considerably, the sensors don't like it and you will end up having to take the car to Audi to have them recalibrate (maybe insert some other phrase here for whatever it is they do) the safety sensors. Read that it could cost $500.
