Should I buy an S7? My S5 got stolen :)

Well, my s5 got stolen (thanks Portland) so i’m entertaining the idea of upgrading to an s7. I think a stage 2 tune is probably more than enough power, but for curiosity sake, whats the deal with replacing the turbos with rs7 ones? I expected the hp and torque figures to be much higher than stage 2. APR's stage 3 91 octane chart shows a 25 HP gain but with LESS torque?? It goes from 670 FT-LBS down to 617. Is this really just a trade-off between torque and HP, is APR smoking crack, or whats going on here? ha. I see Integrated Engineering (I loved my s5's IE dual pulley tune) doesn't offer turbo tunes. Shame. If swapping turbos really does suck out the torque then I might go with IE so that I don't have to pay someone to swap out the car's computers.

My buddy wants to sell me his 2016 with 77k miles for reference. Would I be shooting myself in the foot with buying and tuning an s7 at 77k? My local shop said the 4.0T platform isnt quite as reliable as the 3.0T and maintenance is a bit pricier. Seems fair but I was wondering what you guys have seen after tuning them. I read somewhere that it's easy to blow out the rear axle launching these cars (I think they mentioned launching a stage 2 at 3500k / peak torque) but i'm not sure what else to look out for. He hasn't done a carbon clean yet so that will be on my maintenance list.

    What do you guys think?

edit: I got my wires crossed because IE doesnt offer a stage 3 tune. edited for accuracy.

Notice the APR Stage 2 is "discontinued". Prior to EPA enforcement, Stage 1 meant tune only, Stage 2 meant replacing the downpipes plus tune, and Stage 3 meant replacing the turbos plus downpipes plus tune. Most vendors no longer sell a tune for the old Stage 2. Nowadays Stage 2 means replacing airbox plus tune and Stage 3 means replacing the turbos plus airbox plus tune. I'm not sure if that explains the torque difference you observe.

I have a 2013 S7. I bought it with 74k miles on it. I went DS1 Stage 4 but after the initial investment I have only had a single issue with a oxygen sensor. I daily mine and have 91k on it now. You probably already know this but your turbos should be covered to 100k miles by Audi but I would still get them looked at unless your buddy replaced them already

Purchased my 2015 S7 at 53k miles, coming up on 74k miles now. I just did a big maintenance overhaul for 75k service, entire new front suspension (Sidem has a great kit on urotuning for only $580), motor mounts (did the window weld, it does vibrate a bit but it's whatever) spark plugs, dsg service, and oil change. So if you get the car, you may have to do the same. I am IE tuned, been tuned all 20k miles of ownership. I've had some hiccups here and there, but nothing too bad.

Sorry to hear your s5 was stolen.. Curious on how it happened? Did they get access to a key or was it a so-called relay attack?

I’m in Portland area too so not surprised your S5 was stolen, but still sucks man. Curious which shop told you 4.0t is not as reliable?
