Midpipes and resonator delete - answers inside! Buddy just did this for his TTRS

This topic has come up a few times and not many people have done it, so I wanted to post this up to settle the questions overall.

My buddy just had the resonators removed and has midpipes for his TTRS. Stock tune, stock downpipe, stock muffler. I was waiting with him at the shop while they did the work. They used 2.5" pipe, barely inserted it inside the OEM pipes to avoid flow disturbances, kept the OEM hanger to avoid clunking, etc etc.

Results? Zero drone change. 10-15% more volume. Similar tone to prior but a bit more raw (in a VERY good way). Zero added rasp. Comfort mode seems essentially unchanged and is very quiet. Dynamic sounds incredibly good. This is the way the car should have come from the factory. Best $150 he ever spent was his quote.

No clue what went wrong on the reviews where people said it droned but I am betting they messed with the muffler itself. I rode in it about 10 min ago and it sounds absolutely stunning throughout the rev range and modes.

The resonators are not typical cheese grater insides with packing, but some sort of volume lowering design overall. Very interesting, but makes sense why there is no rasp added in removing them. They were notably heavier than expected too.

Just. Do. It. I would never consider a $1500+ exhaust when OEM EU midpipes and a $150 mod sound this good, simply put.

^^^ Looks great and not a mod that many people have done but now that I see the pictures it makes you want to do it. May I ask you to see if your friend can measure the inner diameter. I am very curious to see if the silencers chokes down too much.

Zero restriction inside the resonators. Inside diameter is a touch over 2.5". A 2.5" pipe slipped right in and fit well for welding purposes. Check the pics i attached to the first post, shows you the inside.

Really hard to tell a difference between this and just midpipes without hearing it from outside the car.
