Another Key reprogramming question

Would like official answer on reprogramming a key from my 2018 SQ5 to work in my 2021 SQ5. Have had several different answers. Is it that the dealer CANNOT reprogram the key or WILL NOT (in order to sell a new key).

Once a key is programed to one vehicle it cam not be programed to another

I found out the hard way, unfortunalty if you want to get another key there is absolutely no alternative to buying a virgin oem keyfob and getting the dealer to program it. Its around $700 $800
