    2012 Q7 3.0T with upper timing chain cover gasket oil leak.

    Whats the sitrep on the repair? Can it be done with motor/trans in the vehicle? Any DIY or Howto vids/websites out there with photos?

    A followup to this post:

    The upper cam covers are sealed with RTV from the factory apparently, no gasket.

    They are a real pain to do in the car, but are doable. There is a heat shield on each side that has to be partially unbolted (top two bolts) and re-positioned/slightly bent away in order to gain access to the the lower 10mm bolts on each timing/cam cover. Alot of 'laying over the engine' body positioning and working by feel required. PITA but doable.
