Red face Quattro tyre size question

    Hello everybody.
I´m about to buy a 2010 3.0 Quattro that will come with 20 inch wheels and tires. The tire size should be 265/30 on them.
The wheels have really bad curb rash tough and I would send them to be fixed and painted straight away. Meanwhile, I can put on 19 inch wheels with 235/40 tires but Audi says that tires on a 19 inch should be 255/35.
Is there any harm in using narrower tires for let´s say 2-3 weeks? The overall wheel diameter would be smaller about 4cm (1.5 inches).

    Thanks in advance.

I imagine so, given it the factory-recommended size. But would I be fine driving with 235/40 for a couple of weeks?

If all four tires are the same rolling diameter, run what you want. The target tire diameter for the B8 A5/S5 is 26.0±0.5". 235/40r19 is 26.4", so just fine. 265/30r20 is 26.3".

As for a proper tire pressure target for that non-standard size (for Audi B8), if it's a 235 XL tire, probably going to be the same as what you'd run for a 225 XL or 245 XL, which seem to be the same for most of the B8 A5 configs. Can't provide specific numbers since the vehicle description is indeterminate. coupe, sportback, cabriolet? 3.0...tdi? But you should find them on the door label.
