Thinking of moving from S5 to S/RS7

Looking at a 16 RS7 with 61k on it for $51k. It shows the recall for the turbo screens is open, but it's at an Audi dealer so I'm assuming they will take care of it or it would be a prerequisite for purchase. Aside from that it has every option I want. Night vision, B&O and warm weather package.

I know the 16's didn't come with Android Auto or CarPlay. Is that doable with coding? I'd also like to retrofit the brake autohold system like I've done to the S5 and Q7. Is that doable on a C7.5?

The C7.5 RS7 did come with carplay. The A and S didn't from the factory, but can easily be added with a MMI software version change.

I would not guarantee the recall will be performed before you purchase it.

Legally they do have to take care of all open Safety Recalls before the sale - especially an Audi dealer - but I also agree I would not assume they will do it. If they are not willing to do it, don't specifically call out they will, or havent done it yet, I would 1000% go elsewhere to get it done. Red flag to me that they have no clue what they are doing for that level of repair.

Also haven't heard of anyone doing the Autohold retrofit on an RS7, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. Likely more so means you are talking about Audi's flagship sport saloon model and no one truly cares to do it lol

According to Google they have to fix all open recalls on a new car, but on a used car there's leeway depending on state. Either way it would be a prerequisite for me to buy it. I was curious about the retrofit because I remember seeing a post somewhere where someone tried it on a C7 and it worked, but the brake lights didn't come on which makes it kinda useless. Not a deal breaker when we're talking about an RS7, but man I love that feature.

2016 RS7's did not ship new from the factory with CarPlay / Android Auto. 2017+ included the feature. Many options for upgrading the 2016's with this capability. Lots of info here on AZ. This is a good place to start: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...hlight=carplay

All the best with your RS7 search.

I have driven both vehicles, and I can tell you the C7 platform has a totally different feel than the B8/9. Especially at higher speeds. Both are fun, but are very different animals.
AA/Carplay is simple to enable for free, its software. There are also people who will do it for you for a fee. The brake auto hold, theres an entire thread on that with parts info as well, inexpensive and very simple mod.

Excellent thanks for all the replies. Still super torn on giving up my S5. I've put a lot into it, I do all the work myself. I just started ceramic coating it and am tossing around the idea of installing a DP and HPFP to go stage 2+. Feeling very indecisive right now, but looking at prices it seems it's a good time to sell.

The RS7 is an entirely different animal, the C7 cars are like highway cruise missiles.. You can roll 120 and feel like your driving down the street at 25...

If you have Telegram, we have a c7 chat group there as well where folks could give you opinions faster and answer your questions.

I recently upgraded from stage 2 2012 A7 to 2017 RS7 performance. Unbelievable in stock form. You will not regret making the change

I have the brake assist on the RS7, have used it on occasion in drive thrus or traffic.

Echo everyone here. We’re of course very skewed to the C7s but it’s a gen with good bones. Typical wear items, prior to the oil screen recall I was hesitant to recommend it to friends that likely wouldn’t do well with watching for turbo failure but I’d recommend it to most performance enthusiasts now.

Even when I bought my S5 I knew I wanted a 7. TBH I don't really care about S vs RS, I just know the RS will hold value better. I'm gonna mod it either way. There is Nardo RS7 screaming my name a few miles away right now. Not my favorite color but you gotta take what you can get in the used market.

I think the B9s have a really good balance of physical controls still available, DRC on those RS5s felt like the difference between comfort and dynamic has been developed well.

Good luck on the hunt! There's tons of info here, and a lot of FB groups in addition to the telegram chat a number of the C7s members are in.

Highway cruise missile is the best description of my '16 RS7 I've seen. Went from a '13 A7 to my current RS7. 10/10 would trade up again.
