I am currently stage 2 single pulley, how do I find out when updates come out to the tune. Is going to the dealer the only way to see what revision I am and what the latest revision is?

Took you guys long enough!!! I miss the APR tunes, but needed the home flash so I had to take my business elsewhere. I still have a stage 1 tune. should a stage 2 tune be cheap enough when the cable is out, I'll likely be in.

APR intake backpipe w/ modded stock airbox, AFE Air Filter, CTS 187mm crank, APR 57mm charger, APR HX, Stasis Catback, CR-15, 034 Stage 2+/034 Stage 1 CARB

    First and still the best.

Trapping 126 on the stock blower with full weight is nice too. Lots of cars from other tuners don’t trap this high on ported blowers.

I’m making every bit of 600 HP on the stock blower with the 104 file with only a 3.2 pulley ratio and very basic dual pulley supporting mods. Might wanna revise those dyno figures Arin. They’re VERY conservative. Dual pulley Ultracharger is bananas on the 104 file.

This is a street pull with no launch control or prep so my ET is higher than the tune and hardware is capable of on a prepped surface.

So can I ask 3 stupid questions itt?

With the 10% off sale, your dealers all have to honor your suggested retail price, minus 10%?

And what kind of added costs are there from the dealer/installer? I’m guessing it varies from dealer to dealer, but is there a ballpark range?

Lastly, will you be running a Fourth of July sale as well?

I’m going Stage 1 and TCU, but want to hold off till I get my chains done and my guy can’t do them for a month or so.

During the sale, we discount the price to our dealers by the same amount. They should be selling it at the same price. We don't charge labor, but many dealers charge about an hours time. I don't have any other sales planned for the year.

I was looking into the sale and was quoted an additional $200 on top of the programing ($100 per tune).

I will be waiting for the "at home" version and going from there I guess.

In my opinion $200 for labor is shameful considering we give such good margins on a software flash. I get the counter argument, but not at $200. You probably have other dealers in your area that will do it for less.

APR has to save us from the slimy dealers. You guys will get a sale from me and many others whenever this at home flash takes off.

This was one of the better ones listed on your site, just over the border in NY...

No way I am paying $200 more for install...especially since I have to drive to them about an hour away...

That’s honestly obnoxious. Takes the shop like 15-30 minutes total for even both tunes as far as I’ve been told, even with pumped up hourly rates, anything over $150 is a little slimy.

I’m in North NJ and work in central and ngl, going to hold off on the tunes if it’s that much.

Only a $50 difference, but I was already hoping it was only $100 total.

I already feel the prices all these tuners charge for the cords are comical to begin with, but at least then you can update, upgrade, flash back, make changes, at a whim.

Honestly, if you guy’s really believe in what you just typed, you’d set maxes as to what the shops can charge for flashing and if they don’t like it, drop them and offer being an APR dealer to a different shop.

No repercussions and they’re all gonna run the consumer over, put it in reverse and do it again, tbh.

We can't legally tell a dealer what labor rate they have to charge to install something we sell.

I'm happy to sign up more shops though. Suggest someone.

The place in NJ dropped to $100 to do both tunes after talking to them again. They claim no one has ever complained about the cost before and since APR was bought out there is no "meat on the bones" for the dealers.

Got another quote from a local dealer, $1388 including tax to flash. $175 for the ECU, $114 for the TCU...

That is absolutely insane to me.

I paid less than that for the Diablo I3, custom PCM/TCM tunes (Jay Greene) for my RAM, and that included buying a spare PCM to have unlocked by Diablo!

A few years ago I had an ecu and tcu installed on a gli. Dealer did not charge anything extra. Now with all the price hikes on everything the same dealer charges hour labor. 110 dollars every time you wanted a different map or tune. Plus waiting to get scheduled in. They are two and a half hours away and that was the main factor in me choosing 034 for this platform. The flash at home option will help Apr sales tremendously. Also with the flash at home options it will probably be the cheapest tune as long as the price on the cables is not crazy.

good to see there is another at home option.

    That's good to hear.

No meat? Margins haven't changed. Dealers make 40% on a flash. I increased margins on APR Plus too!

Sorry man. Well hey, Diablo is one of our sister brands. Maybe in the future we'll have an at home flasher, and then you don't have to worry about dealer labor at all. ;)

Clearly you have some shady dealers. Maybe you should call the “no meat on the bone” dealers and tell him you’ve got a bone to pick on what he’s telling his perspective APR customers. 🤣

Money on top of that 40% is ridiculous to plug a cable in and wait 10 min. It doesn’t take that long to flash a car. NOBODY else takes 30+ minutes with their OBD flashing technology, even if you flash both ECU and TCU, no way in hell yours takes long enough for these dealers to be this grubby.

So question, if we buy a flash at home cord, do we get a 40% dealer discount on the tune?

I’m obviously being cheeky, but this is the kind of stuff that grinds my gears. So the middle man is cut out, your company now makes 40% more profit and on top of that we’re going to pay some literal 1000% markup on a cord to do the labor ourselves.

Man, companies can’t please anyone anymore.

These tunes uses to be a 1000 bucks. EVERYBODY’s. APR is the reason why B8 S4 tunes are 600-650 now, unless you’re IE who thinks their tune is still worth 900 plus a flash cable.

APR dropped their price substantially already and 034 had to do the same to stay competitive.

Some people’s kids man. You bitch about having to go to a dealer and then bitch about having to buy a cable when APR says they’re going to give people what they’ve been asking for….

    Stop it.

Bent over a barrel….. APR’s flashing cable costs as much as everyone else’s. 🤷

Develop cutting edge tunes for almost 30 years, usually before anyone else, for hundreds of cars and tell me what you think a cable and tune is worth…..

That was tame. Sounds like you had too many safe spaces growing up if you think that was insulting 🤣

I believe APR’s B8 pricing is reasonable, as for the cable they have to account for dev cost for the whole system plus ongoing patching and maintenance. Trust me these things aren’t cheap.

Almost all the cables are rebranded ones from other manufacturers or a specific rendition of one. There’s no magic on this platform anymore, there wasn’t from the get go, people just wanted you to think it so they could charge out the ass for it. Even now some charge “credits” to flash shit, which is ridiculous in my opinion, but whatever…

The solution is simple. Start your own tuning company where you can dictate what pricing is and you’ll quickly find out what the true cost of bringing a product to market and supporting it with technical and customer support is….

    Be the change you want

I know I'm new here but APR's balls must be touching the ground by now with how hard you seems to be hanging from them...

No one here appears to be "Bashing" APR to where they need you to defend them (we get it, you are a huge fan).

This has been a civil discussion from what I see with a good amount of info shared from APR to the consumer so we can make informed decisions.

Arin, thank you for the info and being open and honest with us here.
At this time I think I am going to hold out for the flash at home option.
15' Sepang Blue S4, Prestige, DSG, Black Optics, Nappa, Sport diff, Adaptive suspension, Carbon Atlas, SC badges.
I've added: 30% ceramic tint, Vled's 5K fogs and reverse bulbs, Osram CBN HID bulbs, Jackal Motorsports Stage 1 with DSG tune (NGK BKR8EIX plugs @ .026"), APR Carbon Fiber intake and tube, CR-15 brace, EuroCode Alu Kruez and DSG insert.
