    Another Tire Question

Forgive me. I know we discuss tires a lot and I'm sure some would prefer that I take a full day to comb through past threads... but I don't have time.

2018 SQ5 with OEM 20" wheels. I am thinking about having 265/45R20 Michelin Cross Climate 2 on. Has anyone gone up from 255 to 265 on the OEM wheels? Looks to me that they will fit in all dimensions, but I wanted to confirm.

Also is anyone on here running the Cross Climates? I am coming from PS4 Sport, which only lasted about 11,000 miles until they hit the wear bars. Michelin is doing this replacement under warranty (independent of the size).

Totally fine and a great look. Been looking at the CC2 as well... killer reviews.

Thanks, mops. So 265/45R20 will fit on the stock 20" wheels ok?

Interesting tread design, wouldn’t think it would be a quiet/smooth ride but reviews are good

Same... never gave it second look. Better than the AS4 in pretty much every category.

Porsche runs 265/45r20 up front on the Macan GTS and Turbo. But the larger engine Macans use a different wheel bearing housing part revision vs the Macan 2.0T. Though, maybe the difference is some other reason and they are dimensionally the same?

Michelin quotes 29.3" and 29.4" for the diameter for 265/45r20, depending on the specific tire you look at. So is the "29.4 inch" common phrase for Q5 the max advised tire diameter to fit within the wheel bearing housing, or is the the tire diameter that contacts the wheel bearing housing? Unsure if the B8 and B9 wheel bearing housings are changed in regards to this concern also.

As to the CC2, are you seeing better tread life? They cost a bit more than PS4AS, but the tread life warranty is a lot higher too (60k). Wouldn't mind some all-seasons that last a little longer than the current spectrum of UHP all-season options. I haven't seen any negative commentary regarding the CC2 yet. And I've grown out of using rush hour traffic as a slalom course.

I just ordered a set of CC2 from Costco today. I'm guessing I won't have them on the vehicle until early next week but I'm looking forward to seeing how they do. Michelin will back the warranty so I expect they will do fairly well. Since I was down to 3/32 on two of my PS 4 after only 11k miles, Michelin is kicking in a decent amount for the new tires.

I didn't end up going up to 265. Sticking with 255 just to make it more straightforward, and to avoid any possibility of an issue with warranty coverage down the road. I'll post some thoughts once I get to drive on them.

Costco refused to install tires on my RS3 unless they were exactly OEM size (very annoying), so you likely made the right choice sticking with OEM.

Or just go somewhere else to get them installed.
