Can anyone identify this spring? 2018 B9 SQ5 loose part identification

Was in for the control module recall and found this spring on the floor, rear drivers side. They didn't mention it when I picked up the car. Just finally got in contact with them and the service manager says they found it in the car and "don't think it's from my vehicle."

Looks like it could be a pedal spring, but I have no idea. Could have fallen out of a techs pocket, or just been under the seat. anybody know?PXL_20230425_163024082 (1).jpgPXL_20230425_163037428 (1).jpgPXL_20230425_163031116 (1).jpg

That spring is part of the under-seat frame. I'm pretty sure it is for the bar that you lift to slide the rear seat bottom forward and back.

If it's allowed, here is a link to a post on AW that shows the under-seat area with the spring clearly visible.

It's clearly from your car and the dealer needs to fix it for you. Make sure they use NEW plastic piece that holds the seat down, or the seat will be loose. The part # is 80A 886 373 and they replaced that part (or should have) when they performed the gateway module repair, but it should be replaced each time the seat bottom if removed.

Damn, that's the kind of thing you'll only know if you know. It's odd, the link sometimes jumps to the post #15 in that thread, sometimes it doesn't.

The spring is not a separately identified part number, it's just part of the seat frame.

Those plastic grommets for the seat cushions into the seat frames are almost certainly designated replace if seat removed.
And they are really cheap, so no reason not to: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...met/80a886373/

Smac770, thanks for adding your additional insight, as always.

Ba19, since this was clearly damaged (or at least bumped off) by the dealer doing the gateway recall, they definitely need to fix this for you. If the spring is not a separate part as Smac770 says, and it can't simply be put back on, they need to replace the entire seat bottom frame for you. Regardless of what they do, make sure they replace the plastic grommet.

Once fixed, I would also bring this to attention of the service director or similar. For the manager to say they found that in your car after working on it, but figured it wasn't from your car (where else would it come from, really) and then just left it there without saying anything is just bad service.

Appreciate your responses here. Was assured repeatedly that it is not from my vehicle. Will reach out to them again!

It could have been an extra that ended up on the car floor. I had a sunroof frame bolt sitting under my rear seat bench that I found when I needed to replace the sunroof frame years back. But all the sunroof frame bolts were in place. So an extra that fell off the robot on the line?

Then again, I found a piece of plastic on the rear floor board after a service visit. I had asked if they would remove the roof grab handles as I didn't have the "special tool" to do so. They said they didn't either, to try a body shop. Turns out they had broken the clip trying to use the wrong tool and just didn't tell me. And turns out the special tool is an Audi minimum required tool set piece, an $8 right angle screw driver (but not like the kind at any normal store, blade turned 90° like a pry bar).

But not at one dealership did this happen, it happened at two different dealerships. You'd think the second one would have seen the broken clip and not repeated the mistake. Oh no, dealership techs know no bounds.
