Can anyone help me identify this component?

I was cleaning out the leaves and debris in the void that is under the plastic shroud by the cabin air intake near the firewall on the passenger side.

I found this 'sensor' just sitting in that valley. Does anyone recognize it? I'm not even sure what terms to use to search.

It is the Air quality sensor for the HVAC system. Expensive to replace. Should mount onto the side of the Air Intake for the HVAC, mount must have broken and it fell down. It is supposed to sense pollutants in the air and kick the system into an air recirculation mode until it senses cleaner air again.
