    Symptoms of wheel bearing failure?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've noticed a faint ticking sound which seems to be coming from the front end at slow speed (10-20mph) when I'm applying little to no throttle. Anything above that speed there is too much external noise to hear anything.

The noise sounds like something mechanical. I haven't recorded the sound as it is pretty faint and don't think it would add much to the question...

I've read some posts here that have mentioned wheel bearing failure on this platform but nothing specific. Could what I'm hearing be a symptom of that?

The car is a 2020 B9.5 Allroad that just ticked over 16k miles. I'm due for a 3yr service in the next few months so will raise it with Audi then if the consensus here is that it is not a big deal.

wheel bearing failure will usually feel like a slight vibration or hummm when letting off the gas at highway speed. I've had 3 changed on my B8 S4.

That's good to know, thanks... I don't have that issue at highway speed so maybe it's something else.

My wheel bearing noise was more of faint whooshing sound when going around curves… usually coming from the outside wheel around 30-40 mph. Might be the CV for a ticking.

I've never had it on my A4 but I had a GLI with a failed bearing and I thought it was the tires at first. Made a lot of noise especially at speed.
