Any difference between Canadian and US Spec bumper lighting?

Hi, I am new here, but I have searched the forums looking for answers. I am coming up empty so far.

My father in law has a Canadian 2018 Q5 TFSI Quattro.

One of the lights in the passenger side rear-bumper-mounted cluster has died / burnt out. It isn't a big deal, but the dash warning light is annoying.

The dealer quoted ~$800 for a replacement, plus labor.

I have a few questions. Do any of the lights in the cluster use bulbs that are replaceable? It is one of the red lights that has died, not a back-up light.

Are there any differences between the Canada and US spec lights? I believe US and ROW lights differ, but I am unclear if Canada is in with US or ROW.

The assemblies seem to be available on Amazon in the US for under $100, but everything I see in Canada is ridiculously priced. I am hoping they are the same so I can just buy one form the US.

Anyone have a specific replacement cluster they recommend aside from OEM?

    Thanks!
    -Bill

Speaking to the B9 Q5 bumper mounted light units, they are all incandescent, not LED. You've confirmed it's the housing itself that is defective, not just a bulb (N10591501; or for the outermost side marker N90653801) or bulb socket (80A945221)?

The B9.0 Q5 bumper right side housing is either 80A945070 or 80A945070A. The no rev unit is ECE spec, and you'll see the amber plastic for the turn signal. The A rev unit is DOT spec, and you'll see all the plastic is red (or clear for the reverse). If you have the 5th light for the illuminated side marker, then it's also DOT spec unit. That's the only difference, the color for the turn signal, and whether or not the side marker light is there.

Thanks for the detailed response. No, I didn't confirm whether it is just a bulb. He was told by the dealer that it is an LED and the whole thing has to be replaced, so I was taking them at their word. If it is just a bulb, that would be great.

I am still a little confused about the difference between the units. I have attached a picture of his. Are you able to tell from the picture which of the two this is?

    Thanks again

My picture upload doesn't seem to have been successful. I put the picture as my avatar, and added it to my picture library, hoping that is accessible.

    B9.0 Q5 rear lights.jpg

The light units on the rear lid, in yellow circles, are LED modules. If there's an issue with any of the electronics in it, it's a whole unit replacement.

The light units on the rear bumper, in red circles, are just a plastic housing with 4 or 5 bulbs in it.

The B9.0 Q5 (MY18-MY20) ECE spec bumper unit is 80A 945 070 (right side, 069 for left side):

the third pic gives you a good view of the bulbs and the holders and how the unit is just a big plastic housing (note, a new unit includes all the bulb holders and bulbs)

    The B9.0 Q5 (MY18-MY20) DOT spec bumper unit is 80A 807 070 A (right side, 069 A for left side):

notice how the outermost bulb position here has the twist tab of another bulb holder, rather than the sealed molding for the ECE unit (the side marker bulb is a 5W bulb, not a 16W like the others)

I thought the RoW unit would have a clear or at least amber section for the turn signal (the outermost 16W bulb), but appears it is all red like the DOT unit. Maybe I'm thinking of B8.

It seems as if the side marker position might look a little different on the outside for the DOT unit. But if you turn the lights on, are the outermost elements glowing? If yes, then DOT. If not, then probably ECE.
