    2009 A4 2.0t will this motor work?

So I'm new to all the codes and swaps. My 2009 has a bad engine and I found a wrecked 2014 Allroad 2.0t locally. Does anyone know if I can use this engine? I believe the engine code for the 2014 is CPMB.

    Thanks!

@Redline808 Yes, CPMB is the engine code. Also note the transmission code on the same line: NGR. It's a 8-speed quattro automatic (0BK). Guess you know that from the other thread.

I did not know that. Thank you. My A4 is also a quattro. Will the CPMB work in my 2009 A4?

I doubt your CAEB ecu can work with the newer CPMB engine. You need to get the ECU too, which also means wiring harness. I haven't done it myself. It seems do-able, but a lot of work. If bought the donor outright, then swap both the engine and tranny, plus the ECU and wiring -- there goes your can of worm :) May be you need the center console too.

I was hoping to just use the CPMB long block, use my intake, accessories, harness, ecu and transmission. I don't know if this is possible?

That's exactly what you have to do. You're just using the "core" from the new-to-you engine. All the bolt-ons you'll transplant over.

Is a 2014 engine a EA888 gen 3? If so, the combustion chamber and pistons are different. CR was increased too to be "more efficient" (emissions reasons). I do not know the exactly specifics other than that. Does anyone else?

I call it out in case there's piston to valve clearance.

B8.5 had the Gen3 only in some markets. NAR was definitely not one of them.

what's considered all the bolt ons to swap over? My 09 has low oil pressure and if the oil pump doesn't work fix it im just gonna get an engine from a 2013 or 14.

It's been posted before. If it's a B8.5 CAEx, you'll need the accessory bracket and the crank position sensor. If it's a B8.5 CPMx, you'll also need your injectors, fuel rail, and intake manifold. There's probably more, but that's the highlights.
