I wanted a cleaner and faster way to do oil changes on the S4 so here is my solution.

-5" round access panel bought from Amazon
-6 stainless steel screws and nylon lock nuts
-Fumoto valve with adapter in order to clear the oil pan recess. There are components that sit lower than the valve so I feel comfortable it won't get snapped off

Cut a perfect hole in the splash shield under the oil drain plug with a hole saw and then drilled six holes for the screws and nuts. Insert the access cover and bolt on. Reattach splash shield. Now you don't have to drop the shield when draining the oil and no more mess with the fumoto valve

I like that idea, well done. Where did you find a cap like that?

Well done. Although I know it does not evacuate as much sentiment as pulling the plug, I have come to appreciate my Mityvac Fluid Evacuator. With topside access to the filter and me not having a lift, it makes oil changes much nicer.

Clean idea, but I dunno about those valves. I’ve never trusted them. Everything else is 👍.

I've used Fumoto valves on every vehicle I have owned in the last almost 20 years and never had a single issue. It's really a great little upgrade that makes oil changes easier, especially when you don't have access to a lift...

I used to use an electric oil pump to suck out the oil but for some reason I can’t get all of it out. I stopped inserting the tube when it hits a hard stop and tried moving the tube all around. The last time I used this method I only extracted about 5.75 liters which makes me uneasy leaving that much used oil in the engine. When I filled up with oil it only took about 5.5 liters to get it to Max on my OEM dipstick.

This is my first time using the Fumoto valve and I love the concept. Just hope it does not start leaking down the road at some point.

I've always had a similar thought pondering about a hole in the plastic. Never thought about a cool lid like your!
I'd def consider this and still just use the drain plug without the valve

It's only about $15 in parts/hardware. You can just buy a hole saw and return it if you don't need it in the future. (Assuming you own a drill)

Cool idea but definitely fluid excavating is easier and gets pretty much all of it.
    Thanks for sharing!

Lol, nope no extra noise whatsoever. It only protrudes about 0.25" from the splash shield.
