checking brake fluid

Maybe a dumb question, but does anyone have any hints for checking brake fluid level without removing the battery/interior filter/ECU cover?
Owner's manual says to just look, but the reservoir is sitting too low. And I can't see the fluid anyway, even if I pop the battery cover and stick a light in there..

Pull back the weather strip, grab the cover and pick it up. Do you have a good mechanic?

Don't need a mechanic for this, just hoping to save a few minutes and wear/tear on the weather stripping.

I have a point light i shine through the resevoir and i can see my fluid but I do have a less than 3000 mile resevoir on the car(its clean).
