0a3 Shifter adjustment tips (jhm short shifter)

    Hey guys,

Anyone have experience adjusting the shifter to prevent grinding in 1st and 2nd gear? I installed one with my 2.7t swap last year and it just recently started giving me a "jump"/grind into first from a stop and even more recently will grind at full throttle going into 2nd. Thanks.

I'd suggest playing with the forward and back shift position adjustment. When I installed mine I drove with the trim pieces all off for 3 weeks while I was making minor adjustments.

I've never had a problem with a grind between gears that I'd blame on the shifter though. Are you positive it's a shifter related issue? Shifter issues I've had are... being locked out of gear or reverse cause it went out of adjustment. Or being locked in 1,3,5.

Mine did have 1-2 grind and lockout once in a while but it's definitely MT related.

Ya, I was more alluding to the jhm shifter going out of adjustment, not blaming the shifter itself. I agree it's most likely the transmission, maybe the shift rods/bushings have too much slop now..

    Thanks

I also drove for weeks without the trim and my 1/4” ratchet set to make sure. Once it’s good, you have to tighten that one bolt connecting the rod TIGHT, because it can indeed loosen up.
I'm still listening for that rattle!
If it rattles, it's because I baby it.

Ya, I'm hoping that's all it is because it's been perfect for 4 months until just recently

Lool I drove for a full year with everything fine. 1 tight roll race and I knocked 2nd, 4th, and 6th out of adjustment, so it can definitely happen if you don't snug it real good.
