    Heater hose option

    Hi All,
My heater hose coming from the coolant flange has leaked at the joint between the plastic quick connect and the hose. My dealer only sells the genuine Audi hose which is stupidly expensive.

I was wondering whether anyone has used the VW heater quick coupler 3B0122291B and clamped it to the existing hose (as an alternative)? Seems to be very cheap but i'm not sure about the size.

Yes. I've only done that, like, 8 times or so. It has only worked every time. That is the correct part number and it is an exact fit.

    2 notes:
    - I would recommend a smooth band type of clamp. Either a "European style" worm clamp like a GEMI or NORMA, or an 'oetiker' pinch clamp. A 'Murica style parts-store clamp will tend to shred the hose over time, which is not good.

    - They do make an aluminum cast version of that connecotr as well. So far I've never used one of those - I've only used the aluminum coolant flanges. But I've been considering getting a couple aluminum quick connectors to try.

Thanks Walky. I'm glad that u mentioned about the aluminum type. I found one on a chinese website and they are dirt cheap. I've been using the metal flange for the ECT sensor for years already and it still rocks unlike the plastic type that was so sh*tty that i need to replace almost every year.

    Quick update,
The chinese metal flange is kinda hit and miss. Mine did not fit well. The groove was not deep enough to be able for it to slide fully into the flange nozzle. The VW plastic connector is equally cheap and fits well!!.

I used the genuine audi heater hose spring band clamp.
