Android head unit

Hi guys

I bought an android head unit off AliExpress

It’s been an amazing buy at only £200 ...basically it’s the Audi RS Nav but for a fraction of the price

It has wireless Apple car play, reverse camera, Bluetooth calls etc it’s been brilliant.

My only snag is when I get a text message it will only read aloud intermittently

I cant work out what’s going wrong. I’m using an iPhone and unit is running CarPlay at all times

My unit is a Linux based unit. When I connect my Bluetooth it also connects my phone to the unit Wi-Fi

Sometimes the car is connected to original Audi A5 via Bluetooth and other times it’s the ‘car kit’ Bluetooth which is the new unit

At all times making and receiving calls is fine but I’m really keen to find out why when a message comes through to my phone the unit doesn’t read it aloud every time

Has anyone else had this issue and know where I am going wrong?

You don't tell us anything about your OE configuration (model year, installed equipment -- MMI 3G/3GP, Concert/Symphony radio/ltelephone prep).

Sounds like typical unsupported Chinese hardware -- you're on your own, essentially. Why not turn off the OE Bluetooth in the car ?

This forum doesn't get much attention -- you may be better served by finding a forum somewhere that caters to generic Chinese Android radios, maybe an iPhone/CarPlay forum ?

Anyway, we've been to Glasgow once, made it out to Arran for a distillery tour. My wife still won't eat haggis. Cheers --g

Sorry about lack of details in original post, I didn’t think car model would have any significance as the issue is with the head unit Inmo

Anyway, i drive an a5 coupe from 2025 with concert hardware
