Ethanol on stage 1 tune?

Hello everyone, I’m planning to buy B8.5 S4, and was gonna do simply a stage 1 tune from either IE or 034, along with an intake and possibly heat exchanger. I have a gas station with e30, e10, and e45. Would I be able to run any of these with only these mods? Thank you

034 has an e40 stage 1 but you have to change to their HPFP.

you could probably even get away with e20 on a stock pump.

A lot of US fuel rated 91/93 has E10 in it anyways. This would be no issue.

If you want to experience a true transformation, upgrading your HPFP and running our Stage 1 E40 tune will be the key.

The E15 around here is 88 octane in which case you would not want to use it.

Stage 1 you could probably get away with E45(stock boost) without a fuel pump. I ran E40 on a dual-pulley setup at 6,000 feet of altitude on a stock pump, 0 issues.

However, most people just cut a tank of 91/93 with about 4 gallons of E85. It's the Octane you really want, so if that E15 or whatever is 86 Octane, it's garbage.

This works once but you have to have an ethanol gauge to do it every tank. Promlem is if you mix up e40 then you’re adding to the existing mixture making it end up over e40 and compounds from there. Unless you have a content analyzer it’s impossible to keep it e40.

realistically, once you know the mixture, you'll never need to use an analyzer. ive got one installed on my p3 and NEVER check it. i ALWAYS just add 1/2g more of pump gas to make E42 every time. (ex: 3g of e85 to 3.5g of 91)
download an app to get the "ratio" and just ALWAYS stick to that ratio every....single.... time.

what im curious about is how the OP gets 3 different ratings of ethanol like that at the pump. you'd have to pick one of them and stick with it every time because yea deviating from the ethanol % will compound if you start mixing differently.

That’s not the case. You don’t NEED to have a content analyzer, but it’s HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I’ve been mixing ethanol for years and know my mixes. The “E85 Mix” app on android and apple is a calculator and it ensures a perfect mix everytime. I never factor in the ethanol in the 93, as a little extra won’t hurt (I set the ethanol content in gas to 0, within the app). Mine ends up being about E45 from the fuel line, when I tested it.

I also test my fuel stations ethanol content every single time (there’s one gas station I do it every other time because I know they’re pretty trust worthy). You can plug in the ethanol content of the E in the app as well. It calculates everything for you. When you enter the tank percentage in the app, there’s a slider for the exact percentage you have. Say your needle on the dash shows 50% I would put it in the app is 53 to 55% because the needle is never super accurate. This is so you get some leeway. You will never come up short, when the tank is full and you’re like oh shit I didn’t get the required ethanol gallons in.

yup. you only need to check an app initially to get the ratio.

It’s nice for maintaining it to. If my needle says 30% and I put in 33% into the app it’ll tell me the exact gallons of each. Takes the estimating of how many gallons you need out of it to.

Longtime lurker here, but wanted to give my .02.

I ran E85 to E90 on my stock pulley (stage 1 - custom tuned by me) 2011 B8 for about 16K miles with the stock HPFP without a single issue. I'm now dual pulley + w/m + E40 (also custom tuned by me)

My buddy has run the same tune on his 2010 for about 5k miles also on the stock HPFP. In my opinion you should be fine running with any OTS stage 1 ethanol file on the stock HPFP.
