Our county now has stricter emissions testing. A photograph of a compliant catalytic converter is required. I have CTS Turbo’s original K04–0064 turbo and HFC. Does anyone know if a stock downpipe (and cat) will bolt up to the Borg Warner turbo?

Yea, I seem to remember that the fitment was pretty close to stock. Forum member Curtis lives close by and has an extra cat in his garage. He said he’d loan it to me once a year to pass emissions.

Yea, no sniff test but the cat needs to be either stock or EPA approved in addition to passing readiness. Photos are taken by the emissions inspector of the cat and submitted to county. Brand new for this year. This place is turning into California 😂

If really needed you could weld the flange that fits the 0064 on a stock downpipe

That won't work the flange on the stock down pipe is not as wide

get a plate stamped with audi part # and serial # and weld it on to your cts hfc. these morons dont know what they are looking at

I purchased an aFe downpipe with HFC. It seems to be the only HFC that is EPA compliant. I’ll remove the CTS downpipe and take it to a muffler shop on Friday along with the new aFe downpipe and have the flange cut then welded on to the aFe downpipe. It’s a pain in the ass and it’s going to cost me $900 but I won’t ever have to worry about passing emissions with this vehicle anymore. This new visual inspection with photographs that are sent to the county clean air dept. for compliance is ridiculous.

This still leaves me with my Touareg V8 to deal with. It comes with 4 cats and I removed the secondary cats years ago when I installed a custom exhaust. It will defiantly fail. Did I mention that new emissions rules here are a royal pain in the ass?
