    Carbon Ceramic Brakes retrofit

Hello everyone, I bought a b9.5 RS5 SB 10 months ago and I’ve been having the urge to track it. I bought the car with every possible package but the carbon ceramic brakes (CCB) and I deeply regret it. I thought about trading it in and getting an RS5 with the new competition pack. However, my car is wrapped completely in PPF and I even got the ceramic tints. I addition, I like my gloss carbon more than the matte carbon. The alcantara steering is also not a good idea for me, and let’s just not mentioned the coil overs. This is my only car so I don’t want to fully compromise practicality or confort for a couple of track days. After all that unnecessary information, I have one question :)

If I decide to buy the OEM carbon ceramic kit, is it as simple as swapping the steel rotors for the CC rotors and the original calipers with the CC calipers?(with pads of course)
Is there anything else more complicated that is needed and I’m missing?

    I found this on ebay

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/285064155847?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=hxiY_-lfQ_-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&medi a=COPY

It is pricy but it is still cheaper than buying a new car at a higher interest rate and then pay to have it wrapped in PPF all over again.

Thought, comments, and ideas are welcome

You think spending $10-20k on ceramic brakes is going to somehow make you like the car so much better? This is silly man...

You’re going to wear out the CCBs after 1 or 2 track days and it’ll cost you about $20K to replace the rotors and pads. The CCBs on production cars are not the same as CCBs on race cars. Most Porsche owners swap out their CCBs with steel brakes before the track their cars.

THIS!!! Very bad idea!! Keep that 20k in parts, upgrade front brakes to 400mm rotors and you'll never look back! I had CC on my Corvette Z06 Z07 package and they are stupid expensive that's it!!

I know the idea of carbon ceramic brakes for road racing sounds great and thats what you think should be on a track car and in the correct racing application with no budget it is but you would be much better off with Girodisc or 034 rotors and carbotech pads.

They are way overpriced. In 2019, the Dynamic Plus option, which included the CC brakes, cost about $6,000 and Audi installed them for you. With shipping to the USA, this option is almost $17,000, plus installation. It would probably be less expensive to find a used RS5 with this option already installed, if it is that important to you. You can even add the entire Competition package to a new RS5 for less money ($16,000) and it includes a lot more than just front brakes.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Any brand of steel rotors/pad combination that has been proven to work?
If the CCB last as little as you guys said, I agree that is not worth it.

This is the route I'm going for my RS5 except with Hawk 5.0 pads.

Just a thought. Since this is your only car and you haven't taken it on the track yet, why don't you switch to high temp brake fluid and do a HPDE using your stock rotors and pads? That will give you a good feel for how the car behaves and you can then use it as a baseline for upgrades.
