VCDS to determine front or rear brake wear?

Hello, curious to know if VCDS can differentiate between front and rear brake wear indicator? Got a bakes message on my C7 S6 but have replaced front discs and pads about 2500miles ago. Visually looks fine.

Rear pads and rotors go quicker due to them usually being smaller compared to the front pads and rotors. Also your stability control system uses the rear brakes to keep the car straight on the freeway, if you have lane assistance that increases its usage.

Brake pad wear sensors are a simple (broken wire) sensor. VCDS does not have any advanced logic regarding brake wear.
Even the braking function of ESP is deterministically disabled based on an algorithm that determines if the brakes are "overheated".
If it is not the rears that are worn then perhaps the sensor is just bad/broken.

Front brakes do better than about 75% of your braking force so front should always wear out faster than the rears. My last car was a domestic and I got 125k miles out of the fronts and the rears were original and only about 50% wear when I traded it in on the Audi at 190k miles

There is nothing within VCDS to monitor brake pad wear. That is 100% visual inspection.

This. I’m almost every car, I’d replace the front at least 2-3x before the back.
