Back in an Old Friend - Brand newish B9 S4

When I was 13 years old, my father came home with a 2001 Imola Yellow S4 and I was in love. From that point on, I was basically obsessed with all things Audi and the S4 was just perfect to me.

Fast forward 10 years and I was able to buy myself a 2001 Imola Yellow S4. I loved that car, and it was so awesome when it was running perfectly, but over 5 years of ownership, that was few and far between. That car was an absolute money pit and I just couldn't sustain it with my level of income at the time.



In 2017, I decided to sell the B5 for a measly $3K (UGH what an idiot) and purchased a new to me 2010 S4. I clearly didn't learn my lesson on these used S4's. The car was everything I wanted, but it also had its issues. Thank god I had the Fidelity warranty, which saved me many times.



Unfortunately, or somewhat fortunately for me, I totaled that car early 2020 screwing around in the snow. The insurance payout was very generous and I decided to the smart thing and purchase a brand new 6 speed GLI Autobahn for $27K ($30K OTD). I didn't love the car so I spent thousands of dollars lowering it, putting an exhaust on, tuning it, etc. I was happy with the way it came out, but something was always missing. Don't get me wrong, for the money, I don't think much beats it.



To kill time at work, I had been looking at used S4's online and Saturday morning I decided to look at the local Audi used dealer and came across a very nice B9 S4 in a beautiful color, awesome specs, and reasonable miles. Needless, to say I went to take a look and within a few minutes pretty much decided I was coming home with it, especially after the dealer offered me $23K on trade for my GLI.

Welp, here she is. 2018 Audi S4 Premium Plus, 45K Miles, Navarra Blue Metallic, Rotor Gray Interior. It came with the OZ wheels, an ECS Luft Intake, and is potentially tuned (scary), but I love it. I have about 30 minutes of seat time so far, which won't change much until this weekend, but I can't wait. I will get some better pics then.







And some slight issues I'll need to deal with. The Carbon fiber mirrors and spoiler are looking rough and the previous owner painted the window trim black which did not hold well





Let's just hope this one bucks the trend and I have a worry free experience!

Dont stress about being tuned, it makes the car better ;)
Also, you can email tuning companies your vin and they can confirm if you are tuned by them.

Welcome! These things are super reliable from what I've seen. Honestly surprised you didn't get more on your trade, seems like the market it coming down quickly. I had a 2019 golf alltrack that I purchased brand new for $29k OTD late 2020 and ended up getting $29k on the trade with 29k miles last may for my S4.

Check with IE or 034 as far as tunes go, they are currently the 2 major tuners.
Hopefully it's not tuned with EPL as you won't get much support if it is.

The GLI was fairly modded, so that did hurt trade in a bit. Also, 034 got back to me last night and it has Stage 1 93 ECU and TCU tunes. Pretty excited about that

Congrats.. Take a look at page 14 and page 17 -- the right control button on the left side of the steering wheel should open up options on the respective tabs. On that date thing, you should be able to spin the wheel on the left to scroll through other options..

Thank you! I am able to change the view on the left side of the Tach when in the Sport Layout, but I haven't seen anything different in the right section.

Edit - I was able to find a video explaining it. Seems like Date is the best option regardless

Just waiting on my S4.

I loved my B5, but honestly minus the size, my favorite was my B8 /w DSG. I still think the B9 is a step backwards a little bit, but the turbo engine is great...not interested in the B10, pretty certain of that. Not even sure if I could come to buying one as it's like owning a Mustang GT, then trading it and all your memories for the....EV....

Also - I found this out while changing out the plates. The f'ckin dealer just tried to pass off a useless rear plate holder. Only the bottom left hole actually holds a screw. Already reached out about getting it replaced.
