    Crazy maintenance??

    Hey guys,

I believe that the PCVs, water pumps and T-stats are under 8 Year 80 extended warranty?

Should I be looking for a reason to have my Indy get these swapped and charge AoA? Car is 2018 A6, approaching 53k miles.

Recently had interior replaced, minor body damage (plywood fell against car and PDR couldn’t fix) resolved. Plugs, filters, T-Case current.

So, I’m thinking about what’s next and then how long I can realistically expect no major work.

Just did water pump on wife’s Q7 at 82k… no warranty coverage.

I have a 2017 A6 3.0T. I bought it used in 2020 with about 47K on it. In the first year I had a coolant leak and after a couple trips, a few fittings and a water pump, that has been fine. I recently had an issue with the fuel sending unit and something else I can’t remember with fuel. That’s all I’ve done other than new rear brakes and new rubber. I love the car. Parts and maintenance are a little more, but I think once it’s paid off, a few hundred or even a thousand now and again is worth it and still better than $6K in car payments.

I guess that wasn’t too much help to you. It’s fresh in my kind as I debated selling and going to something less spendy to maintain, but the Audi is just so nice and fun to drive, I’m going to stick it out. Some owners go tens of thousands of miles with no issues. I hope that will be me now.

Also, Audi’s are known to burn some oil, like it’s expected which is still a little odd to me. Anyway, I tried some Liqui-Moly motor oil saver at my last oil change and my oil level (on screen anyway) hasn’t dropped at all. That’s been nice as I’ve had to add a little oil between changes (I do 5K mile changes) until this last one…so far.

AoA won't reimburse me for the rental cars that I had to pay for out of pocket despite a loaner car being explicitly in the dieselgate warranty. I doubt you'll have any luck unless you get some legal people involved which is what I'm having to go through right now.

This things are only covered for specific vin ranges on these cars. I asked three Audi dealers and my PCV is absolutely not covered.

Turns out it's mostly fine, indy left cap off dipstick tube.

Those 3 items are prone to failure on the C7 platform but there is no reason to replace until they are going bad. My t-stat lasted over 200K and I went ahead and put a new water pump in at the time even though it was not bad, others have had them go out by 30K miles still under warranty.

Thanks Valpo. I’ll look at pump and coolant reservoir for signs of coolant loss. And run VCDS looking for codes. Last check showed nothing but improbable values out of the sport diff. That’s probably my driving on a closed road. No there issues.

Wife’s Q7 just made 1k mile trip after water pump: all good but for a slight popping or clank in suspension. I think the pads may be shifting in the caliper ever so slightly. CABs allegedly good per Indy. I’ll use FCP warranty on brakes to test that theory and go from there. Even is suspension on her car needs updated, it’s nothing “urgent”. Meanwhile, gas, oil and ignore Honda!
