    Anyone make a skidplate?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As it says, is there an available aluminum skidplate for the B7 RS4? I have seen for the A4/S4, but it's missing the naca ducting present on the plastic oem skidplate.

    Thanks!

You won't find any with the ducts, or I haven't.

I'm sticking with oem, but yes you would have to.

I'm looking for oe RS4 plastic undercover for when mine's back on the road. Not sure of chances finding used in Canada. Has anyone tried b6/b7 a4/s4 plastic under tray and possibly cut out sections for possible different positioned RS4 components? Cover some better than covering none. Or price of new from dealer RS4 under tray?

ECS I guess but I did see one on Summit, not OEM though, and someone did link to an ebay sale for an A4 but it comes with the back piece for the A4.

$306 USD + tax and shipping. Anyone here have this product on their car for a while and can give review of plastic thickness/quality/fitment?

Or is this one of the main underbody panels (under doors)? looks too square to be the one under the engine

Edit: It is from under the doors

Went through 29 pages of ECS exterior body parts and couldn't find it. Am I looking in wrong place? https://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_RS...terior/Body/29

A belly pan is a belly pan. I can’t imagine the summit version being so bad that it’s worth spending the extra $950 to get OEM.

I never looked into the manufacture since I don't need one, was scrolling through Summit and decided to see what parts they had and stumbled on it as I was looking at other things.

  14. #14
I'll probably try the summit and post here how it is. If anyone has the product in the meantime please post if you have any fitment/quality info on it

Damn @widebodyfx ! That is the best looking belly pan I've ever seen! There's no way I could put that on my car. Awesome.
That Summit link is for a standard A4 type belly pan. (no ducting for the brakes and slightly different design)
@WinterRunner - Are you back in the RS4 game??
Unfortunately after years of searching for an aluminum replacement I've given up. I ponied up for the OEM one. A Panzer or Thor would be great but all they made were A4 variants. Even an ECS version would get me to buy. If anyone has connections I'd be in on a group buy.

That's a great price for it even when DHL shipping is applied, granted I selected their Ultimate (627.76€ - $676.66 at time of conversion). This is worth it as a replacement

I didn't even notice the lack of brake ducts.

I can confirm ECS doesn't have any of the RS4 belly pans in stock, nor will they be resupplied. I placed multiple orders that were all canceled from their end. Trying to go through my local dealership, Audi has also apparently stopped manufacturing those, and no longer has any available in the country. I found one on eBay that came from Latvia and just received it after 4 weeks a few days ago; need to open it up and make sure it's the correct part. It also took a while to find new brake ducts, but I finally have all 3 parts now to refresh the plastic underside of the engine after 15+ years. The lack of proper brake cooling had a rather dramatic effect on my brake and tire temps, and tire degradation, last time out on track 😬

I'm honestly surprised to see the OCT part being so cheap, and that they're making a part matching the OEM one – especially if Audi isn't going to have any more of those available. Definitely keeping that link handy!

So the Panzer/Thor option does not have brake ducting? Is that detrimental if daily driven?

For daily driving, you're totally fine (otherwise the A4/S4 would have issues without ducting too!).

Which is the better option, Panzer or Thor? If I'm going to fab one up, I'd prefer the better variant. Thanks for any info fellas.

Edit: Looks like Panzer no longer makes a b7 fit?

Yeah, it seems the Panzer is no longer available. At 15yo, it seems companies are abandoning the platform. Evolution Import is who makes the Thor. It always seemed the Panzer was the go-to but the Thor was thicker. Not sure about fitment on the RS.

I also noticed that the Thor doesn't have the trans cooling ducting really either other than that little slit, not the 3 nacas.

I think taking a Thor, make 3 T-shaped cuts, bending in the flaps, and cover with steel tape well should actually work. No real welding or anything needed.

Just purchased the basic OCT composites one, 400$ shipped, without hardware (another 125$ from ECS). I'll report back on quality and fit.

I still haven't put my carbon one on, the original is available via Audi Tradition site. They don't ship to US, they do ship to Canada though. If US, you have to get someone in Canada or Europe to relay it. Europrice could likely get this. https://shops.audi.com/en_GB/web/tra...gory=118805%23

So I did get the OCT composite fiber one, and the fitment is poor, Rick at AutoEngineering installed it for me as it didn't line up well and use all of the factory mounting points, in which he did a little drilling/fab work to get it to fit well. Not worth $600 IMO.....

I received my OCT composites tray, went for the full Monty "Ultimate" version with Kevlar, as well as CF. From order to receipt was like 3 weeks.

I'm a reformed composite boatbuilder, and can attest that the lamination quality is top notch. The mold side has imprints from a real VAG part, so they used a real part for their plug, and pulled a mold from it.

The fit and finish do leave a bit to be desired.
    • Kevlar in the lamination schedule makes for fuzzy edges, but does not account for me needing to trim in a couple of places.
    • Also, as it's thicker, the OEM dowel pins are very short, and in some cases, too short.

Side note: does anyone know of a source for longer dowel pins?

Overall, very happy. When the rest of my RS4's underbody panels need replacing, I hope OCT composite is still making them, as that's what I'd prefer to get.

Please post a link and/or details for the longer dowel pins when you find them. I checked FCP Euro and the stock dowel pins are 6x18mm. I did find a 20mm version; not sure if that would work. Here is the link to the 20mm version: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vw-...sat-8d0805121b

I got all my OCT panels on, front needs trimming in a few areas and opening up of fastener positions for OE bits. I didn't think it fit terribly, the thickness of the CF vs. the plastic does make the 1/4 turn hardware really hard on the front 4 positions with the bumper plastic involved. For the dzus hardware, I could not find much beyond 19mm. These worked out ok, road tested over the weekend and no issues in triple digits.

Sides and rear all fit really well for something aftermarket and very stiff.
