RS5 V8 4.2 Intake Manifold Removal - Coolant Question (Oil Filter Housing Seals)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello All,

Tried search but did not get a return (post a link in case I overlooked it).

I'm undertaking the oil filter housing removal job, and wondered how much coolant I need to drop from the system?
    Does anyone know?

I will be removing upper intake housing.

    Please advise.

UPDATE: All completed. Ended draining about a liter or so of coolant from the system. All worked well.

    Few images for the record:

Just a couple of quarts at the most since they are in the topmost portion of the system. Good time to remove the Coolant hoses going to the back of the intake inlets and the line going to the Coolant reservoir. JHM sells a kit but all you really need is 4 Silicone plugs. I think it's about a 5/8~3/4" on the Coolant reservoir and about 3/8" for the 3 plugs by the Oil filter housing. The Coolant 'T' next to the Oil filter housing needs a plug with a clamp, the other 2 don't have to have plugs but it keeps dirt/dust from getting in there. What's wrong with the oil filter housing? If you need a pic I've got an engine with the intake off on a stand.

A gallon of pink is all you'll need. That should mix 50/50 with water. Don't buy the pre-mix. (And you'll have leftovers for yearly top-offs)

Thanks for that info. My RS5 is at about 150K miles and oil starts to seep out from the seal under the oil filter assambly. So, before I undertake the project I wanted to get more in-depth info. Feel free to post any images of thing I'm expected to remove.
I've done a ton of work on my other Audi cars but this is a first time doing work to top of the RS.
